In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  4. Must plan to attend Santa Fe College.
  5. Must be a resident of Alachua County (FL).
  6. Must be an African-American.
  7. Must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  8. Must plan to enroll in 12 or more credit hours.

Description: This scholarship is open to Alachua County (FL) high school seniors who plan to attend Santa Fe College. Students must be African-American and must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Additional Information: In 1991, Robert Woody and other local community members recognized the need for a special scholarship program for minority students and a committee was formed to raise funds from local community members. Contributions have been made from large and small businesses, as well as individual community members. Students may apply for a maximum of three scholarships as long as they meet the established criteria. Students can receive only one scholarship award per academic year. Scholarships are applied to the academic year awarded. Scholarships are non-transferable. A thank-you note to the scholarship donor must be received before the award is posted to the student's account.

Award Amount: $1,600 annually, renewable for one additional year if the recipient maintains a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. The scholarship is awarded in equal installments for fall and spring terms.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,200.
