Additional Information: The Skip Wohl Memorial Scholarship is provided annually in memory of the life of Skip Wohl. Skip graduated from the University of Southern California in 1962 with a degree in finance, and became a successful leader at his family's construction company. Under his guidance, the firm grew from being a small builder to becoming a large and well-known development firm noted for its consistent performance and upbeat attitude. Each year, a new scholarship will be awarded to one student residing in and attending school in Southern California who has also been diagnosed with cancer. Since its founding in 1993, Cancer for College has worked ceaselessly to provide hope and financial assistance for students in the U.S. who have been diagnosed with cancer. Scholarship selection will be based on all submitted documentation, although judges will pay extra attention to academic achievement and demonstrated monetary need. Any failure to remain enrolled full time and any transfers from a four-year college or university to a two-year community college may result in the suspension of funding. Students may choose to suspend their scholarship for up to one year for verified medical reasons and resume upon improved health. Students who are not able to return to school within one year are eligible to reapply for the award in future years and will be considered with top priority over new applicants.
