Number of Awards & Eligibility: 10 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Hawaii.
  4. Must plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university as a full-time student (12 or more credits per semester for undergraduate students; 9 or more credits per semester for graduate students).
  5. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  6. Must major in education.
  7. Must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for college juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are residents of Hawaii and majoring in education. Students must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Alma White was a long-time teacher and principal in Hawai'i. When she died, she left a great part of her assets to the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Delta Chapter, of which she was a member. The Society is an educational society dedicated to the advancement of women educators. The Chapter members established this scholarship which will enable future generations of Hawai'i students to pursue teaching as their life's calling. All applicants for this award must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August. Applications open November annually.

Award Amount: Approximately $1,500 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.
