Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must rank in the top 50 percent of his/her class.
  4. Must have a combined SAT score of 1000 or higher or the equivalent ACT score.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  6. Must be a dependent/spouse/customer/employee of, or an individual sponsored by, a member of the National Pawnbrokers Association who has been in good standing for the previous 12 months or a member in good standing for the previous 12 months who was killed in the line of duty OR a dependent or the spouse of a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty.
  7. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This merit-based and need-based scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate students who are the dependent/spouse/customer/employee of, or sponsored by, a member of the National Pawnbrokers Association who has been in good standing for the previous 12 months or a member in good standing for the previous 12 months who was killed in the line of duty OR a dependent or spouse of a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty.

Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate school and community activity. Applicants must be able to answer specific financial questions listed on the application. Recipients must attend an accredited institution that charges tuition. A recipient must not utilize this scholarship while attending a tuition-free institution, such as a military academy. The parent or sponsor of the applicant must not have been a National Pawnbrokers Association officer or employee or a member of the FBL (Future Business Leaders) qualifying committee during the 12 consecutive months preceding the application deadline. This time period also applies if the parent or sponsor of the applicant is deceased.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Recipients may reapply each year to continue receiving the scholarship. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale to reapply.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
