Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. The amount of scholarships awarded depends on the number of qualified applicants and the amount of contributions taken each year. Last year, three new awards were offered.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher who were diagnosed with childhood cancer are eligible for this award. Students must be residents of Colorado or Montana OR have resided in one of these states during cancer treatment.

Application requirements for the Stephen T. Marchello Foundation Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letters (3)
  • Essay
  • Official SAT and/or ACT scores
  • Activities list
  • Interview (finalists only)
Additional Information: The Stephen T. Marchello Scholarship Foundation board of directors will make the initial screening of the applications received. The final award decisions will be made after a personal interview. Proof of acceptance to the institution of higher education of the recipient's choice must be made prior to granting of the award. The foundation will base their decision on references, essay question answers and activities participated in. Recipients will be contacted by phone or in person.

Award Amount: The award amount varies annually. Last year's awards ranged from $500 to $1,500. Some renewable awards may be offered. It is the recipient's obligation to keep the foundation informed of his/her progress in school in order to be awarded the scholarship money the following semesters if awarded a renewable scholarship.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
