In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for residents of Kent and Ottowa counties in Michigan who are majoring in a medical field at any college or university in the state. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate unmet financial need.

Additional Information: The Grand Rapids Community Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships annually, primarily to Kent County students bound for or in college, or those pursuing a technical career. This scholarship, provided each year in honor of Violet Wondergem, is awards to a Kent or Ottowa county student who is majoring in a medical field at any college or university in Michigan. Selection is based on academic records and demonstrated financial need.

Award Amount: Awards range from $500 to $5,000 depending on the student's unmet need and the availability of funds. Average awards are about $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
