Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a current law student.
  3. Must be of Hispanic origin.
  4. Must be from the Tampa Bay (FL) area.
  5. Must be enrolled in an accredited Florida law school. A list of accredited law schools is available online at www.americanbar.org/groups/legal_education/resources/aba_approved_law_schools.html.
  6. Must have a law school grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to Hispanic law students who are from the Tampa Bay (FL) area and are enrolled in an accredited Florida law school with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. Students must have distinguished themselves academically or via service-oriented activities or plan to serve the Hispanic community in Tampa Bay during law school/after graduation.

Application requirements for the THBA Cruz-Garcia Law Student Scholarship are:

  • Official Transcript
  • Resume
Additional Information: All applicants must meet one of the following criteria: have distinguished himself/herself academically; OR have distinguished himself/herself in service-oriented activities that benefit the Hispanic community in the Tampa Bay area; OR have a demonstrable interest in serving the Hispanic community in the Tampa Bay area upon graduation and/or during law school. Applicants must be available to attend the THBA Annual Gala, which will be held on a data TBD in Tampa, Florida.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
