Number of Awards & Eligibility: Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a minority student.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. Must be enrolled full time.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student at the time of application.
  7. Must reside in one of the following Michigan counties: Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Muskegon, Montcalm, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia, Allegan, Barry, Eaton, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, or Calhoun.
  8. Must be majoring in nursing, therapeutic recreation, orthotics or prosthetics, physical therapy, occupational therapy, neuropsychology, or speech language pathology.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for minority students who reside in and around Grand Rapids, Michigan. Applicants must be currently enrolled in one of the specified nursing specialities and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The Mary Free Bed Guild, established in 1891, is a nonprofit organization that owns Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. In 2002, the Mary Free Bed Guild created the Minority Scholarship Program to promote diverse staffing to meet the rehabilitation needs of our patients. Award selection will be based on the student's academic performance, involvement in community activities beyond the classroom, and the responses provided within the application submission.

Award Amount: Exact award amounts will vary depending on the selected applicants' demonstrated financial need.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
