Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a minority student.
  2. Must be enrolled in law school.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must demonstrate unmet financial need.
  5. Must be a resident of Michigan.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for minority students enrolled in an accredited law school in the U.S. Applicants must have a permanent residence in Michigan, a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and unmet financial need.

Additional Information: The Grand Rapids Community Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships annually, primarily to Kent County students bound for or in college, or those pursuing a technical career. The Miller Johnson West Michigan Diversity Law School Scholarship is awarded to a minority law student with a permanent residence in the state of Michigan. Academic achievement and financial need will be considered during the selection process.

Award Amount: Awards range from $500 to $5,000 depending on the student's unmet need and the availability of funds. Average awards are about $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
