Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of West Virginia.
  3. Must be a full-time student (12 credit hoursor more).
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must be a graduating senior at Nitro High School in Nitro, West Virginia.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Must have an ACT score of 20 or higher.
  8. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for a U.S. graduating high school senior at Nitro High School in Nitro, West Virginia. The applicant must have a 2.5 grade point average or higher, and an ACT score of 20 or higher to be eligible.

Application requirements for the Brandon Matthew Sneed Scholarship Fund are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Tax return
Additional Information: Students may only receive one scholarship per year from TGKVF. The applicant will be notified by TGKVF by May. The foundation will mail the full amount of the award in August. It is applied to the entire academic year. The check is payable jointly to the recipient and the college, but is mailed directly to the recipient. Any student who withdraws from school for any reason will be expected to notify the foundation of his/her status and refund any unused, refundable portion of the scholarship. In addition to other requirements, the applicant must also demonstrate loyalty to family and friends, be of high moral standards, academically sound and physically fit within their abilities and demonstrate ability to successfully set attainable goals with the willingness to be self sacrificing to achieve them, and be self motivated toward achieving excellence.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, renewable if the student reapplies. The student must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher to renew.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,600.
