Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must graduate from Hillside High School, Northern High School, Riverside High School, Southern High School, or the City of Medicine Academy in Durham, North Carolina.
  6. Must demonstrate financial need.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors graduating from Southern High School in Durham, North Carolina who have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher are eligible for this award. Students must demonstrate financial need and plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university.

Application requirements for the Umesh and Usha Gulati Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letter
  • Tax return
Additional Information: Recipients will be selected based on academic merit, financial need, and an outstanding motivation for higher education success.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
