Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards provided annually varies, depending on the number of qualified applicants and the amount of available funding. Last year, 21 awards were offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Must be of Latino heritage.
  4. Must be a resident of Connecticut.
  5. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  6. Must be accepted to or currently enrolled in a college or university in Connecticut.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for Hispanic students who are residents of and planning to attend a college or university in the state of Connecticut. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: CALAHE is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the participation of Latinos in different areas post-secondary education in Connecticut.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and information about this award are available at the Connecticut Association of Latinos in Higher Education (CALAHE) website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following items: official transcripts (high school seniors must submit high school transcripts, and currently enrolled college students must submit college transcripts); an essay in response to the prompt listed in the application; and a copy of the applicant's Student Aid Report. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices.All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
