Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually. Last year two awards were offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of West Virginia.
  4. Must be a full-time student.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  6. Must have an ACT score of 20 or higher.
  7. Must be a family member of an owner or employee of companies that are current members of the Home Builders Association of Greater Charleston for one full year or more.
  8. Must be enrolled in either a two-year or four-year program of study to apply for this undergraduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for a full-time, U.S. undergraduate student who is a resident of West Virginia and who is a family member of an owner or employee of a company that has been a current member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Charleston for one full year or more. A GPA of 2.5 or higher and an ACT score of 20 or higher is required.

Application requirements for the Henry E. King Scholarship Fund are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Tax return
Additional Information: Students may only receive one scholarship per year from TGKVF. The applicant will be notified by TGKVF by May 15. The foundation will mail the full amount of the award in August. It is applied to the entire academic year. The check is payable jointly to the recipient and the college, but is mailed directly to the recipient. Any student who withdraws from school for any reason will be expected to notify the foundation of his/her status and refund any unused, refundable portion of the scholarship. In addition to other requirements, the applicant must also demonstrate good moral character and financial need.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, renewable for up to three years if the student continues to meet the eligibility requirements and remains a current member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Charleston. The student must reapply to be considered for renewability.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.
