Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 10 awards provided annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have lost a parent of guardian to cancer.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate students who have lost a parent or guardian to cancer. Applications will be evaluated on the students' personal stories, academic achievements, and unmet financial need.

Application requirements for the National Collegiate Cancer Foundation Legacy Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Recommendation letter
  • Essay
  • Resume or list of awards
Additional Information: The National Collegiate Cancer Foundation established this scholarship program to provide financial support to college students who have lost a parent or guardian to cancer. The student will be evaluated based on attitude with respect to his/her cancer experience; quality of essays; financial need; notable accomplishments; and quality of recommendations. Applicants will be notified by July 1.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
