Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Forsyth County, North Carolina.
  4. Must be enrolled in an accredited institution degree program offering an A.A., B.A., B.S., or equivalent degree.
  5. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must be a female.
  7. Must be a single mother.
  8. Must be 25 years of age or older.
  9. Must be employed and work 20 or more hours per week.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for single mothers who are residents of Forsyth County, NC, and are 25 years of age or older. The student must demonstrate financial need, have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and are employed and work 20 or more hours per week.

Application requirements for the Professional Women of Winston-Salem (PWWS) Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letters (3)
  • Official Transcript
  • FAFSA
  • Personal statement
  • Resume
  • Fin. aid statement
Additional Information: The criteria which will be used for selection of candidates include the following: financial need as established by the student's school's financial aid office, and based on her FAFSA; the student's stated career direction or commitment; and the student's application packet, letters of reference, and personal statement. The PWWS Scholarship Committee will review the application packages and recommend finalists to the PWWS Board. The board will make the final selection using the above selection criteria. Scholarship winners will be announced in November. Each winner must attend the monthly PWWS meeting in December to receive his/her award, and also to meet and network with the members.

Award Amount: $500 per semester, non-renewable. Students may reapply each semester that they are eligible, but must submit a new application packet.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
