In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Knox or Laurel County, KY.
  2. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must plan to enroll full time.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This scholarship is available for graduating seniors, adult students, and GED recipients who have a permanent residence in Knox or Laurel County, KY. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and demonstrate unmet financial need.

Application requirements for the Stepping-Stone Scholarship are:

Additional Information: This scholarship was established in 2008 to assist promising young people from Knox and Laurel Counties in Kentucky who wish to pursue a higher education. Preference will be given to applicants planning to attend school in Tennessee and work in the East Tennessee area following graduation. Factors to be considered by the selection committee will be: financial need; general aptitude for advanced educational work; evidence of participation in and service to the community; and the maturity and professionalism of the student, in that order of importance. The selection committee reserves the right to conduct brief interviews with finalists.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.
