Well, where to start? First of all, the main campus is located in an amazing area downtown. It's very close to the main library I mean, it's literally on the next block, so for any of you who love to study and have a good eye for books ;) there's a great place for studying. There's also a great place to eat on campus as well. It's run by a class for the semester, and they make amazing food for the menu they have. They have one the best culinary arts programs in the state of Michigan, and bus transportation is smooth sailing. Overall, I don't have that many bad things to say about the college, so if you're looking for a great place to start come to GRCC!

Pretty much all the students are there to learn. If you're looking for a party school, or a greek-life Mecca, this is not the place for you. Professors. are generally high quality, though you have a few bare-minimum professors here and there. But hey, it's community college.
And it's CHEAP!!!

My experience with the professors of Grand Rapids Community college has been very fulfilling. Here, your money isn't just going to education, it's going to the people you meet including staff and other students. There are always conversations to be made and GRCC is very involved in current issues. Even if there is no agreement between everyone every single second of the day, in the end, GRCC is a place of respect and growth.

Before attending Grand Rapids Community college I attended Arizona State University. While attending ASU I had a hard time focusing and staying to my academics with me being so far from home. I had finished my first year at ASU with a 1.7 and was on an academic probation. I knew that I was not going to be able to be able to return to the school so it put me in a depressive state because I really enjoyed the school even though I didn't do well in school. After the summer I had decided to take a year break from school and decided to attend Grand Rapids Community College after my break, this was the best decision I have ever made in my academic career so far. The staff and people here are all encouraging that it is ok to fail and that you should not be afraid to receive mental help if needed. I felt that GRCC was where I was supposed to be and now I am attending my second year here this fall and have a 2.7 GPA right now. I plan on raising my GPA this second year to something over a 3.0 before I transfer to Grand Valley State university hopefully by next fall. This is going to be a tough journey but no one said it was going to be easy and it makes it all worth it when I finally receive my degree and walk across the stage.

They provide their students with a unique learning environment with a personal, one on one feel, tucked inside the busy city of Grand Rapids. The college itself provides out of class opportunities from students and non-students alike and is incredibly inclusive. The school is close to many dining and living opportunities and is comparatively quite affordable.

I love this school because it allows me to work full time while going to school through there flexible schedule. Despite having to take a lot of online classes, I always felt connected within my classes and reassurance that I could always reach my professors.

I loved Grand Rapids Community College because it was the best financial option for me. However, I never got involved in the college community so I felt out of it compared to the rest of my friends who went straight to Universities. I wish that I would have made myself more involved in the college experience but I was a full-time student who works full-time to try and take on as little debt as possible.

GRCC is hugely convenient. They're located in the middle of the city, surrounded by plenty of feeding, shopping, transporting, and housing options. There's a large variety of potential classes to fit any schedule, and the faculty work hard to help you succeed. The campus security help you feel safe, and the students are always willing to do what they have to to help you. The only downside is the parking situation; since it's right downtown you're stuck paying for on-street parking or an overly crowded parking garage.

I think it is a great start. Especially for college being expensive. Grcc is one of the most economic schools in my opinion and they offer good help and help you out throughout what you could be dealing with good or bad just like any other college m. Everything they do their best to do so.

I really enjoyed my time with Grand Rapids Community College, and I feel as though I left a little family. During my time there, I always felt my professors truly cared about my educational wellbeing, and they took the time to care about their students outside the classroom.

There is a nice campus but the online center is very confusing to navigate. The faculty that helps answer questions over the phone is overall very helpful. I would suggest remaking the website to make it more user friendly for the students. I have heard many students complain about the online center being difficult to navigate.

Overall, I think that Grand Rapids Community College is a great place to start off at, especially if you want to transfer to a 4-year university. This is my opinion because I believe that anyone who doesn't have the chance to or hasn't won a scholarship for a university should attend community college first in order to save money while still getting a good, solid education for your gen eds. GRCC is the perfect opportunity to do this. My only complaint is the food selection, but this isn't a big complaint, because I probably shouldn't expect too much attending a community college that is smaller in size.

It's my first year at GRCC and overall it has been great! I am not involved in any groups they have there but the teachers I had were always caring and helpful! The only downside is some academic advisors are kind of judgmental on the decision you're trying to make and I am not the only one that feels like that.

I absolutely love it here! Everyone is super nice and I enjoy going to class. The campus is patrolled by police and i feel extremely safe while walking around. Most of the professors are very good at there job and the classes are overall very affordable.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back, I would probably have gotten into some AP course, because I was not prepared for college courses as I thought I would be. I should have looked into more careers than thinking I would not change my mind. I would also tell myself that, just because I am given more freedom in college, I shouldn't think that I can settle for just okay. I needed to still work as hard as I did in high school. I thought I was prepared for my first year in college, but I wasn't its completely a different atmosphere than high school. I would just make sure to tell myself not to pretend I know certain material to cut my study time short. I should form a schedule to make sure I don't fall behind.
My fellow classmates here at Grand Rapids Community College are nice and considerate, they help you if you missed something in a lecture or if you need someone to study with for the upcoming test.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
My friends are always jealous because I know so many people from my school. Since our class sizes are so small, I've had classes with almost all of the sophomores in my school and I know everyone. I love it because not only does that make great connections, but it makes school more fun and enjoyable. I also brag about how we don't have to take a ton of general education classes. The classes we take are really only related to our major, which saves lots of money!
I consider the best thing about my school to be the staff, students, and classes. The staff because they are very willing to help you in succeding in the goals you have set in place for yourself. The students because they are very friendly and it is a very diverse campus, which I love. Finally, the classes because they talk about things I am interested in and work around my schedule. My school is the best choice for me and many others.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish that I had not tried so quickly to grow up and escape my home town. I had applied to Western Michigan University's college, and I was accepted into their Art School. It is difficult to get into, so I was very excited, but once I began taking classes, I hated it. I spent the next few years wasting money and time in college, when I should have trusted my elders and gone to community college in the first place. I laugh now, but now I am incredibly in debt, and working full time while in college.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about my school is that there is no sense of community. The student body is hugely divided, and I do not have a single friend on campus. I would really enjoy being able to live at school.
The school I actually attend is Kendall College of Art and Design, but it wasn't on the list. So, I think the type of person who should attend this school is an artistic student. Someone who loves having the freedom to create what they want. Someone who loves small class sizes and fun teachers. I love everything about Kendall and I know that anyone who wanted a degree in art would love going here!
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
It is not challenging enough. I currently have a 4.0. I would really like to be challenged more, I work a full-time job, and I am a full-time student, and I am still able to maintain plenty of free-time.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
GRCC has a lot to offer, valuable professors and equipment, but the work ethic of a lot of the student body is lacking, and so there is a divided air about the place.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
In the 2009 year I attended CMU and in this year I am attending GRCC. I am going here to get my general education requirements completed. I think a community college is the best way to save money and get the gen. eds out of the way. On the other hand, I also believe it is very important for a student to receive that first year experience of college life because it allows young adults to find out who they really are when they are out of the nest so to speak.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
kendall college of art and design offers many degrees in the arts including funiture design, digital media, and many other great programs. The teachers are dedicated to work with you and make you successful and prepare you for the work force. One way that they do that is every semester have previous students come in the college and present there work. They even give advice on how we can make out portfolios better and give us a better standing of the work force.
