Auburn University Top Questions

The worst thing about Auburn University is how difficult it is to achieve a high grade. Auburn remains #6 in the nation in regards to achieving an A. If Auburn let up a little we could all get A;s, but then the degree wouldn't be valued so much. I appreciate the standards this school has set, even though they suck and my parents question my GPA.

The worst thing about Auburn is that there are limited scholarship oppertunities.

The dining halls are the worst thing about my school. They are expensive and not very healthy for the most part.

The worst thing about my school is construction/parking. There is almost always construction going on near campus and there are very little parking spots for off-campus housing students, so we have to leave earlier than desirable inorder to park and get to class on time. The prices of on campus food is also too high.

The worst thing about my school is the cost of books at our bookstore. It is much more convenient to buy books at the bookstore rather than online, but it is just way too expensive. I would much rather buy from the bookstore because it is fast, easy, and often more accurate. When buying books online there is always a chance the wrong book will arrive at your doorstep. I wish my school would lower bookstore costs so I can continue buying from them in the future rather than switching to online purchasing.

During freshman and sophomore years, you will be in "weed-out" classes quite often (mostly for the engineering fields, but elsewhere as well) that are very large and intended to get rid of people so the more difficult classes down the road are smaller. Also, you will sometimes run into professors that are at the university for research and are teaching simply because it is required. It is obvious they don't want to teach.

At times, depending on the class and professor, the work load can be escessive. The amount of time spent on homework is sometimes ridiculous and makes it difficult to maintain a healthy social life.

The mandatory meal plan is the worst thing about Auburn University. If you live on campus you are require to spend approxmatley $1,000 dollars a semester on your meal plan, however the venues on campus are very pricey so majority of students use their $1,000 dollars before the semester is over forcing them to spend their money on off campus food, which on a college budget is very hard to do. Also, the venues on campus close at very inconvient times so students must eat dinner at early hours and have a forge for themselves on the weekends.

The worst part about my school is the parking. There is very limited parking space on campus and it causes tardiness for class, long walks in all weather conditions (good or bad) , and limited access to your car.

The worst thing about Auburn is registering for classes at the end of each semester. Students with the most credit hours are considered first priority and usually get into the classes they want. Students with the least amount of credit hours have to diligently search for ways to get into classes that are either closed or full.

The only thing that I can think of is that the food plan is not that good. You are given about 1000 dollars on your student tiger card. Then they don't have any real cafeterias where you can go to get food. They just have basically random restuarants scatttered through out campus and whatever the price was for your food they deduct off of you card. Some of the resturants are good but they also have places such as Chick-fil-a and Papa John's. Having these restuarants can tempt students to eat unhealthly.

The worst thing about Auburn is the meal plan. There are some great places to eat on campus. But, the university charges the student who lives on campus $1000 each semester. Not only is it too much money for a student to spend per semester, but there are consequences if you don't spend all your money. If you have any money leftover, the university gets it. This is not fair to the parent's or students who are paying for it. It would make more sense to require students who live on campus to have $500 per semester.

The most bothersome thing I have noticed thus far is the lack of desire to learn by the students. College is often portrayed as one big party, however I figured since time is money when attending college, people would become more serious and have their priorities in line. I was discouraged when I found out my generation does not comprehend that now is the time to obtain knowledge in order to better ourselves for the future. Nevertheless, I remain confident that one day soon they will realize the time has come to make a change.

The worst part of Auburn was leaving. Unfortunately, there's not much in the town for career opportunities since it's mainly a 'college town.' If the town of Auburn could have a better market for graduates, I would've stayed there.

The food services. Choices are like a food court at the mall for the most part. You have to be careful to choose wisely. On weekends or holidays, many of the choices are not open. There are a few other food service choices that I don't get a chance to use much because of their locations on campus.

There are people who have racist tendencies because of limited experiences with diversity. Also the majority of the student's here are republican so if you feel uncomfortable with their opinions you may struggle to feel your opinions politically are welcomed.

On the weekends there is not much to do and the campus dining is all closed except terrell dining hall.

The food. I just get ired of eating the same thing over and over. Hopefully the situation will be better this semester, the contruction of the new food court is supposed to be finished.

There are not alot to do off campus for students and the college is not as diversified as I feel it should be including the instructors as well.
