What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known it was better to live in the freshman dorms in order to meet more people, even if you can get in to a better dorm with upperclassmen.

Lynese

I wish I had a true sense of how expensive it would be to attend a city school like Boston University. It is extremely populated with upper-middle class students and things tend to get very pricey.

Jessica

I wish I had known how hard it is to keep a balanced budget without sacraficing my social life. There's so much to do in Boston, but as a college student at a school with tuition in the $50,000.00 range it's hard to find fun, affordable activities. I saved a lot before I came to school, but I would've worked even more. You never really understand how fast money goes until you have no time to work but you still have to buy books and groceries. It was a really tough life lesson to learn.

Lisa

I wish I knew more about classes to sign up for my freshman year. I ended up with two deflated grades. My GPA has not been able to recover ever since.

Eileen

The large classes which basically drive curve based grading and the elitism found amongst students in science based classes. The environment here is very fake. I have only a few good friends that I don't apply a mask when approaching. The professors are smart but I think very few actually care about their students. There is a clase system here. The elitist few and the majority wondering what the hell is going on.

Molly

I'm not sure that I can recall one thing specifically that I wish I had known before arriving at Boston University. However, the overall strong sense of a campus feel isn't always present among the students. Also, school spirit seems to be an issue.

Laura

Be open to being friends with everyone you meet, people on your floor, etc. It's a really big school and it's better to feel like you know people

Edgar

That it is very difficult to get into some classes and they rarely if ever open up additional sections, even if dozens of students want to take or class or need to take it for their major.
