I attended Bridgewater State University for 4 years. I had two majors and a minor. It was easy to add my minor after my freshman year. Academic advisors are supportive and help walk you through what classes to take. There are plenty of clubs and groups to join including Greek life.

Bridgewater State University is a great school with a very diverse community. The other department could use some more funding but overall all programs are taken very seriously and professors are kind. It’s a very safe campus with lots of things surrounding.

DON'T GO HERE. PLEASE AVOID. This school is a pathetic excuse for a university. The people do not care about their education and are either on welfare or daddy is paying the bill. It's not a respected school and unless you plan on going to a great grad school you will not get a paying job. The school has done nothing for students careers, I've been to career services multiple times and left with the same info I walked in with. RES LIFE IS HORRIBLE. The students do not respect the dorms, I've never even seen any RA's, and things are constantly being destroyed by other people and you have to pay for the damage even if you know who it is. I had a horrible roommate my first semester and I had to go to reslife every single day and they still did nothing. After ruining my family's winter break with this problem looming over us, I got a room change and I got a horrible suitemate who did nothing but smoke and constantly have people over who used the things myself and the other person bought. The school just wants more money and so do the professors, they just show up for their paychecks. Save your money and sanity, please don't come to BSU.

Bridgewater State University is a great less expensive option for students. However, if you plan to go to a graduates program BSU’s education is looked down upon, making it difficult to get into most higher level education colleges. The campus is nice, with many stores and places to eat near by. They offer different transportation options such as the train, bus, and shuttle. The school is very diverse with professors of different ethnicities as well as students from all different backgrounds. Lastly, the classes are fair and you can adapt your schedule to your life whether you have work, kids, or just like your schedule to be a certain way there are many different time slots of classes.

I am not yet a student, I just got accepted into Bridgewater State University and have only seen the campus once but based on other people's reviews and my own small experience, I think it's a pretty good and huge college. I've heard good and bad things but I think it'll be worth it.

Overall, I believe Bridgewater State is a good school academically, especially for education majors. I find it is very hard to socialize on campus, people generally keep to themselves, and its hard to make friends because it seems everybody already knows everybody. Also the food on campus is not great, if I had to rate it I would give it a 4/10 on a good day. The facilities are okay, the dorms for underclassmen are old, and need updating, but all of the staff in the building are nice and they do their best to keep the building clean and the students safe. Out of all of the professors I have had, they have all been very nice, and for the most part very knowledgable about their subject field.

Bridgewater State University is an excellent school, that is transfer student friendly. I have taken advantage of their mass transfer program, and they made the transition from community college a breeze. I am currently withstanding a grade point average of highest honors, and feel fully immersed in my learning experience. B.S.U. genuinely cares about the affordability of their students and I am forever grateful for the opportunities that have been granted to me being apart of the film communications program. Being a commuter, I needed a university that would help me excel without breaking my budget and this school has accomplished just that.

Really helpful and a great campus.

With well below average SAT scores, I didn't expect that I could even be accepted to any college program, but Bridgewater State took that chance and saw my potential. I soon realized that BSU was going to be MY home for the next four years.
The school as a whole, average in my eyes. The atmosphere is most of what I wanted myself, a small school that offered a wide variety of opportunities; often quiet in the nights, but busy with lots to see during the day. With every step there was always one person to wave to and ask how you've been, or an informational booth to share information on the latest student news. Professors always wanting to know if there is anything more that can be done to ensure everyone is learning the material. Sports were not that popular but many would attend as the Bears took on their newest match. But beware of what you are eating before the game, that taco you just ate from East Campus Commons might be seen again real soon, however with four dining halls you can always find something you are in the mood for.
Overall, Bridgewater State was generous and gave lots to its students, the area was beautiful and opportunities endless.

I think Bridgewater State University is one of the best universities in New England. The campus is tucked away so it feels like you're in your own little world, but there is also access to the Commuter Rail right on campus, so you can venture up to Boston easily. The classes are small, which is nice because it feels like you can actually make a relationship with your professors. There are also plenty of clubs and organizations you can join to meet new people and make friends! Overall, I think Bridgewater State University is an excellent college and has been a pleasant experience thus far!

I have been a graduate business student at Bridgewater State University for 1 Semester and have enjoyed my short time with the school. I appreciate the small class size that has allowed me to get to know my professors with ease. I like that they are the ones answering my questions about the documents that they will be grading so I know what to expect. The accessibility to the professors has allowed me to become more comfortable in the learning environment and allows them to show an interest in their students. They can handle who may need more help and recognize the top students. I have taken classes with hundreds of students at other universities and I know that BSU’s style of teaching is a good learning style that works for me.
The dining hall food on campus is average to above average but could always be improved. The campus is nice and has plenty of organizations to get involved in. Bridgewater is a diverse area and school. If you have a certain interest or group that you are seeking out, there is a good chance Bridgewater already has something involving it. It is convenient that the school is located on a commuter line and near a main highway between Cape Cod and Boston. There is plenty to do within driving distance during down time when not studying.
I also like that Bridgewater is in a relatively affordable location compared to many other towns and cities in Massachusetts. The classes are competitively priced, and I am grateful for the opportunity to go back to school to work towards a graduate degree. A college degree is what you make of it and I feel that BSU will give one that opportunity.

Bridgewater State University will provide any student with a chance to become a part of an inclusive community of helpful, caring professors and lifelong friends. There is a way for every student to find their niche at BSU and have a truly amazing college experience. On the Bridgewater State University campus you will find diversity, inclusivity, and ultimately a home with your fellow Bears.

Like the smaller, real New England feel campus. Small class sizes.
Lily
I love Bridgewater State, it became a new home to me when I joined the bus family, the campus is very diverse so there is no way that you won't be able to find people with similar interests. although a lot of students are commuters, there are plenty of places around campus for commuters to stay while on campus waiting for their classes. the library is a great place to study, and even has a Starbucks inside that can be purchased using your meal plan. overall its just a great place to be.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Bridgewater State University is 80%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Make sure they like the atmosphere surrounding the college because it is not only the academic purpose of choosing the college. You will need to enjoy yourself socially as well or you will not be happy and perhaps may hate college.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
There is nothing wrong about Bridgewater State College academically, but being a commuter, there are not enough commuter parking lots available to the students, for it being a largely commuter based school.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
Any person that wants a degree that isn't for teaching. The teaching program here is great, but all the other programs are left behind. Definitely do not come here if you are an art or music major.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Bridgwater State College is unique in its synthesis of in-class and on-line learning. It offers a great website allowing students to find out what is going on every day on campus, where to look for scholarships, and unique and fun opportunites. Additionally, there is a great mix of students from race, nationality, religion, age, and so on.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I brag about how small our class sizes are. I enjoy being able to have class discussions and not big lectures. The professors here are very personable and help you with everything that you need. I feel as if they look at each student individually, and not as a number like they would at large universities.
I considered the over all learning experience to be the best at my school. The teachers really know the subject that they are teaching. Also the students there are great.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about the school that I attend is when all my professors assign tests and papers at the same time. It gets pretty stressful.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had taken less science courses during the first semester as I had been out of school for a long time. I also wasn't initially very comfortable going to the achievement center to ask for help. I should have focused on a math course with some basic electives for the first semester until I became more comfortable with the requirments of the classes.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
Well it is a good stereotype ( if there are any good ones). My school is considered as one of the best schools that train teachers in general. Therefore, many students are Education majors ( early childhood, secondary Ed, special ed etc.) so when a student meets someone who is not an education major it is pretty surprising.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The most popular activities are open poetry nights, off campus events and socials, on campus dances, the Multicultural organizations and LGBT groups as well
Classes are small and professors take time to get to know you. Many of them take time to help you. Most of the teachers I had care about what they do and about their students. One of my teachers even introduced me to another teacher that literally saved my academic career countless times.
Big Sociology fan as well as LGBT studies. So Really any Social Science classes are recommended because you are not only learning on an educational basis but on a social/ moral basis as well. Internally you grow ass a more conscious individual.
The professors are as concerned with your education as much as you are. In saying that if you express care for your academics and come to office hours as well as communicate with them, they assist as much as they professionally can. They assist those who are not afraid to say they need guidance.
A typical weekend would involve either hanging out with friends, going to the local plaza or attending an event hosted by the school or on campus clubs/ organizations. No dull moment when you look for opportunities.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
80% of students attending Bridgewater State University receive some sort of financial aid.
31% were awarded federal grants.69%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
