Apply to every school you want to and sometimes what seems like a school you would never choose ends up being the school you go to! Have lots of fun and go out and try things that you would never have thought of doing before, like jumping off of a bridge, meet lots of new people and be nice to them all. Always call home and let your parents know how you are doing but enjoy the freedom and responsibility that college life offers.

Picking a college can be stressfull and demanding; you want the school that will offer you the most options and a school that you can grow and develop into the person you're supposed to become. But how can you pick the right school? How do you know which school will exceed your expectations? In my personal experience in picking college and dealing with most decisions, you just have to make a choice, then make the most of it. There's going to be bad and good days no matter where you go; you have to be prepared for that, and prepared to make the most out of everything that comes your way. Be involved in activites, be ready for new experiences and be bold. Go out, have fun and become the person you're meant to become!

Research more than one school and make a list of pros and cons for each school to see which works best for you or your child. If you don't like the school you are at don't be scared to transfer because there are many good schools out there.

Find a college that has the programs you are interested in, it also helps to pick one with a great assortment of options in case you want to change your major. Don't limit your options! Pick the college that will help you achieve what you want the most!

I have three words to share with you. Everyone is different. Also, every college is different. Therefore the best advice I can give to prospective students is to find what's best for you. For some people living close to home is nice, both financially and supportively. For others, the main objective might be to get as far away from home as possible. Finding the right college has many factors. Other factors to incorporate include expense, climate, programs offered, and envronment. Study it out. Finding a college is like shopping. Make sure you know what you are looking for, and don't make a decision too quick. Think it out. Compare and contrast. Develop a list of pro's and con's. This will aid in this big decision. Let your parents help, because believe it or not, they do have some wisdom. Then my final words of advice. Pick a college, and put your whole self into that decision. Love where you are and what you want to become. Follow your dream.

Go to college to get an education! Not to "have a good time." So many people go to the "party schools" and they're really missing the whole point of college! Seriously, are you paying Several thousand dollars to get drunk every weekend and fail all of your classes because of your choice of lifestyle? And then be a college grad working in McDonald's because you didn't learn anything? Can you say "wasted time and money?" And "wasted life?" Not worth it.

Elizabeth

My very best advice is to see and feel the campus. Know what it is that you want from a school, but go see the school instead of just taking someone else's word. I always thought I would go somewhere different than I chose to go, but after visiting both campuses, I knew which one I would be happiest at. I love my school and would never change a single decision I made that brought me here.

To those parents/students out there who are searching for the right college to go to I would say choose wisely. There are many school out there that provide a wonderful education but on the side are big party schools, or have bad reputations. College is preparing you for the rest of your life. Take the time to find that perfect college, the one where you'r going to get a great education have tons of fun and meet many new life long friends. Don't choose a college because their party reputations, that will only have a disadvantage on your school work. Find that perfect school thats right for you somewhere your going to have the time of your life doing something good and making new friends while getting the education that will help you with your future.

The best advice would be to really do your research and decide what your goals are along with your son or daughter. Be really open, discuss the benefits of going to college with them. Encourage them to get involved and make lots of friends from all different backgrounds so that they can better understand the world. Help them to figure out a way to pay for college, it can be really expensive, there can be expensives that you don't always think of . Write a list of of what expensives you think there will be. Have your son or daughter write a list and then compare, you will both have different items listed. Help them, with a buget to understand and respect money. Find out what their long term goals are, which colleges will offer the best education for the area that they are going to be majoring in. Let them know it's okay to change their minds when trying to decide what to do for the rest of their lives, that it's normal to change their major at least twice. Be very supportive with them and realize their dreams don't always match yours.

I would tell them to do the research. They need to make a list of qualities of what they want in a school, schools that have those qualities, and the prices of those schools. I would suggest that they really consider the price above all else. School is expensive and the less debt they are in when they get out, the better. Also they should visit the campus in the middle of the winter. If the student to-be cannot stand the weather, than there might be less of a chance the student will get up to go to class. Know the school, and know the student. A happy student usually winds up being a more successful student.

Kurt

Make sure that they have called to find out about the program that the student is looking to enter into and see if the have a good a good output into the workforce from that field.

Marissa

Research the colleges you want to go to and visit them to make sure you'll like it. Once you choose your college, make sure to work hard but have fun. Also, use your time wisely. and be willing to try new things If you do these things, it will make your college experience much more enjoyable.

James

Choose a college that you will want to stay at for a while. No matter where you attend, you will receive you education only based upon what you put into it. You reap what you sow.

Cara

I would recommend finding a college that resembles home. Especially if you're a freshmen, it will make it easier to adjust if the student can still feel a little at home and won't be in such a culture shock. It's also good to make sure that is has an excellent library and available tutors. Then I was recommend looking at what there is to offer for extra activities. You don't want to kill yourself studying so there should be some really excellent activites to take you away for a while that are not destructive. Some schools offer sports to go watch and or play, dances with lessons, bowling, roller skating, etc. It's nice to just have someplace to just relax.

rachel

Look at all of your options. Decide what is really important in a school you want to attend and what is not so important. College should be fun but its a place where you are getting an education first. The best way to make the most out of your college experience is to join clubs and groups and just be involved in many activities. Its a fun way to get to know your school and the other students who also attend your school also.

Sara

My advice to anyone searching for the "right" college is first to research it as much as you can, and second don't forget there is not one "right" college. College is what you make it. You can have a great experience at many different schools if you get involved in the areas you are interested in and keep the right attitude. It will all work out in the end.

Katelyn

Be the person you want to become.
