Emory University Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Emory University accurate?

dylan

not quite, except students are cliquey sometimes.

Lizz

I do not feel that any of these stereotypes are accurate. I feel Emory students work hard and are involved in many different ways in the Emory and Atlanta communities. I am a graduate student, so my perspectives are not as informed sometime.

Sam

No, just people dont take the time to get to know us.

Chris

No, while some students are upper class and stuck up, there are many students that are not, adding diversity to the campus.

Gene

no

Andrew

Yes.

Mel

to some extent. its not that theyre not true or accurate, but its not polite and its incredibly rude to put us all in the same category for having one characteristic in common with those girls.

Kaitlin

There are going to be nerds in every school but not everyone studies all the time. I think Emory is a lot of fun and there are some really awesome places to go and have a fun time.

Ami/Amy

1. Definitely not true because I know so many people who are here only because of full or almost full scholarships. 2. For the most part, I think this is very accurate. Most people just hang out with people of their own cultures/ethnic backgrounds.

Nick

yes.

Eric

Not entirely, stereotypes never encompass the entire truth

Scott

Not entirely, but these stereotypes do come from somewhere. There are a fair amount of girls and guys who are jappy and spoiled, but most of the student population is very rounded and genuinely nice. Also, many people who you look at and at first appear overly preppy, you eventually find out are smart, fun, and great people.

Meredith

Emory is very jewish and had its fair share of long island jewish boys and girls with designer clothing.

Ben

Yes, these stereotypes are quite accurate.

Amanda

I believe that each of these stereotypes could be viewed as accurated by a judgmental individual. I am from new york and am jewish yet to me it does not feel as though there is an overwhelming amount of jewish new yorkers on this campus. Although i feel this way, others who are not jewish and are not from new york may feel differently.

Antonio

Emory is a great acamdemic school, ranks in the top 20 overall and 4th in undergrad business, etc. There is definitely a large jewish population. Many of the students at Emory are rich but a lot are also there on scholarships and merit-based student aid. There are students from all over the US and the world.

Matt

pretty much

in some cases yes
