Overall an outstanding University. I see myself continuing to study here, and even live in the general area. I hope I can be admitted to the Medical School. The people really make the experience everything, and I can attest, starting from my first visit.

Everyone at this school is so so kind. There is always a friendly face. The academics are superior as well. This school is definitely the "Ivy League of the South" and often goes unnoticed. There isn't a lot of hype around sports because we don't have a football team.

Emory was a wonderful place for my education in that I felt supported by the faculty and included in the student community. I am confident in my abilities to perform well in my career ambitions going forward due to my involvement at Emory, and the community I got to be a part of.

Emory provided a space that felt like a home away from home. I thrived in the arts there and the emphasis on taking a variety of classes improved myself as well-rounded and robust individual beyond the fields of study I pursued. The professors there were attentive and available for our needs and I was able to develop my research skills in my participation of my honors thesis.

I would say the school offered me one of the greatest opportunities to learn within a culturally diverse environment. The professors were extremely knowledgeable yet open to discourse with students. I had many resources available which allowed me to compete with my peers.

The clock tower sings the Emory alma mater every day at noon. Each time I hear it ring, I quietly hum the tune while passing extracurricular groups tabling in the center of campus, or grabbing a cup of coffee at Kaldis in the Student Center, or leaving the library after a morning of studying. When I first arrived at Emory, it took some time for me to adjust to the culture. College felt like an extended summer camp with classes and homework. But over time, Emory began to feel like home. Emory professors want to help their students. Emory students want the best for one another. No university is perfect and Emory certainly has it's flaws. But overall, Emory has provided me with a unique and enriching college experience that I am so grateful for.

Being on campus I have found the most welcoming community that I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. If I have ever needed assistance in my personal life or in the education aspect of the college experience my professors have been able to assist me or get me in touch with people that could assist me. My classmates are all encouraging as well, which I believe has been fostered by the nature of the campus and faculty already there. Emory has a plethora of student health options, including mental health. If I had to go back and decide where to attend, I would pick Emory University all over again.

Going to Emory is definitely a life changing experience. You have access to amazing resources, people, and opportunities as a student here. Academics are obviously top notch, the professors are experts in their field and most of them are conducting research. One thing to note is that while Emory advertises itself as a liberal arts college, the reality is that many students aren't interested in getting a well rounded education and care mostly about their pre-professional paths (premed or business). The social life is great, there are all sorts of people and anyone can find a social circle that suits them. Students here are driven and everyone is involved in a multitude of clubs and activities but even though we're hard workers, we still like to party! I highly recommend Emory! Both the campus and Atlanta itself are amazing environments to live and learn in!

I went to Emory as a prospective student and was absolutely delighted by how engaging the environment was. Emory consistently being deemed a happy college has its merit as it was a rainy Saturday and yet students are were still smiling and the admissions officers interacted with every student on the tour. The university was large in size yet the fact that the school maintains a close-knit community was evident. Overall, Emory was very endearing especially to a high school student, like myself, who are used to seeing her classmates drained of energy as they travel from class to class.

Emory has always been my dream school. It simply has everything that a student would want: state-of-the-art academic facilities, comfortable residence halls, a variety of great food, access to Atlanta, and faculty that genuinely cares about the success of their students. We may not have a football team, but Emory has plenty of other things that inspire school spirit!

Emory provided a challenging but formative college experience. While some of the courses and professors were lacking, I felt like I got a comprehensive education that gave me the offerings I was looking for. The extracurriculars were the best part of the experience.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Emory University is 25%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Don't lose sight that you are going to college for yourself to follow your own dreams, not the dreams of your parents or friends. College is a great time to learn and be pushed out of your comfort zone.
The best thing about Emory is how progressive the university is. Emory does not settle for mediocrity and that’s reflected in almost all aspects of the intuition. Emory wants its students to grow as scholars and as people. It’s willing to listen to student complaints and suggestions and actively changes things to make them better. From the Theater Program to the Chemistry Department, to the Dining Hall, Emory is very concerned with student happiness and making the institution the best it can be and is constantly striving to be a better more well-rounded campus.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The small size really appealed to me because I do not do well in large cities or social situations. I also liked the reputation and that it was close to home.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
Anyone who cannot handle academic pressure of any kind should not attend this school. This institution is extremely competitive and the student are constantly competing with one another to be the best.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Emory University is the pinnacle of an ideal and exciting college career because it packs all of the positive aspects of higher education into one central location: a friendly faculty and staff who want to see nothing but a student's success, a student body "family" that is just as concerned with helping others as helping oneself, and a campus where one feels nothing but safety and security.
Bearing the title of an Emory student carries with it expectations of discipline, responsibility, and rigor. However, the characteristic that embodies the learners of Emory most profoundly is open-mindedness. Emory's gates are open to those who appreciate the vibrant cultures of different continental races here and the variety of thought they bring with it. The energy of our campus thrives from the students' passion to probe, question, and understand the vast range of diversity and knowledge surrounding them, no matter where their political or ideological loyalties lie. In essence, we welcome those willing to learn from each other.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Sometimes the workload can be frustrating. It really depends on what courses/career path you are pursuing. For someone who is pre med, I have a demanding schedule in the sciences. However, I really feel that after the initial frustration, I have learned a lot to make all the stress worthwhile.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
The Emory bubble. Very large Jewish population, especially from the northeast. Relatively diverse student body, but a majority of students don't embrace this. Most students not willing to step out of their comfort zones. Sports are not big and school spirit as a result centers around Greek life. Intellectually curious student body, but the majority of students are not intellectuals per-se. Grade inflation. Very pre-professional oriented student body. Expensive. Mediocre job recruiting.
Since Emory has no football team, it seems like no one is really spirited, but I tend to disagree. A lot of people here wear Emory gear, especially sports teams, and Emory is still a D3 school so the athletes do exist. I think because Emory promotes healthy living, a lot of students tend to play on intramural and club sports teams, work out at the great gym facilities, and run/job at Lullwater Park and/or around the campus pathways. Sports in terms of team playing isn't too big here, but during homecoming, the soccer game is attended by quite a lot of students and alum, and you can definitely bet that many students on campus will be involved with some kind of fitness activity!
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
