student life and the academics caught my eye mainly, i enjoyed seeing people have fun on campus.

Georgia State is actually a great school in terms of academics and opportunity. All of the science teachers I had always encouraged office hours, went over concepts that needed more explaining, and showed up. I hadn't met a teacher that didn't want us to pass or "does not give out A's". Students were always forming study groups and were happy when others wanted to join. Academically, I would give GSU 5 stars. Housing is questionable. The freshman dorms were a remodeled hotel and motel. I got to the motel side and it looked like a motel with bunk beds. The lobby area and the courtyard were nice and gave school spirit. In my junior and senior year, I stayed in the lofts. The lofts had the modern look like regular lofts. They looked nice as long as you didn't look too close at things. There were moldy vents on the ceiling, small bugs that kept getting in no matter how much you cleaned or called the "exterminator", unexplainable stains, and uncovered cracks. The off campus housing cost at least $2,000 a month, but they looked nice. The other on-campus housing was nice, although there was carpet and white refrigerators in some. Overall, the campus housing needs some upgrading. The food was good. Our campus had Chick-Fil-A, Panda Express and Steak N Shake. Near the dormitories, we had Moe's, The Sweet Stack Creamery, Waffle House and Subway. Since we were in Downtown ATL, we could walk to areas that had a slew of restaurants that were actually good. The dining halls also had some good food, so overall you wouldn't starve. GSU had a lot of areas where students could sit and hang out which was nice. However, the overall location of GSU and its structure is not the best. Being located in the middle of the ATL, means that it is not like the nice college campuses you see on the movies, but rather multiple buildings spread across the area. You could have class in one building, but your next class is in another building 15 minutes away. There were also a lot of homeless around, which the majority would leave you alone, but a few would cause trouble. One specific area has the RaceTrac gas station located between multiple dormitories, meaning that a lot of people would hang around and they were not even students.They would hang around bothering people about their mixtapes or trying to sell some weed. There were several incidents that occurred at that RaceTrac that involved police and even resulted in casualties. Overall, the safety on campus is at a low. When grocery shopping, there were not too many good options. Across the lofts, there was a convenience store that wasn't so convenient as the prices of items were high for no reason. You could walk to Walgreens, but that is not the ideal place to get groceries. You had to drive to Publix, Target, and Walmart. They had shopping shuttles only twice a month and it was first come first, first serve. I rode on one shuttle and the bus didn't come to pick us up until hours later. However, I did not wait that long because I called an Uber. For the party scene, some students would host kickbacks at their dorms so you would always smell weed and hear loud music. Although, you would smell weed even if there weren't any kickbacks. There were also clubs, but some had a history of getting shot up. There were job and volunteer opportunities. We were near Grady and Children’s Healthcare. There would also be job fairs and seminars you could attend. The sports games were popular, but I didn’t go because I did not care for sports. There are always student events and clubs you could join. Overall, there was good student involvement and opportunity. GSU is a good school, but it definitely needs some work.

What attracts me to Georgia State University is its unique blend of academic excellence, vibrant urban setting, and strong sense of community. As someone passionate about becoming a nurse, I’m especially drawn to the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions. GSU’s nursing program offers hands-on clinical experience in some of Atlanta’s top hospitals, and that real-world exposure is exactly what I’m looking for to grow into a confident, skilled healthcare professional. Beyond academics, I’m inspired by GSU’s incredibly diverse student body and inclusive culture. I believe learning alongside people from different backgrounds not only makes college more enriching but also better prepares me to care for a diverse range of patients. The location in downtown Atlanta also excites me—there’s so much energy, opportunity, and room to grow, both personally and professionally. Overall, GSU feels like the right fit: challenging, supportive, and full of possibilities. It’s a place where I can truly see myself thriving.

Georgia State University is a great option for anyone looking to have a mix of academics and city life. The campus itself is a combination of old and new, with venerable buildings that are so full of personality, and alongside shiny, modern spaces that have you feeling like you're in an up-to-date environment. One of the best things about GSU is how diverse it is. It's not race or culture (although there's enough of that too); it's varying ideas, experiences, and perspectives. Whether you're at school or just driving around campus, you're constantly bumping into individuals who have something new to bring to the table. This is an environment where learning isn't confined to classrooms but in everyday interactions, and it's something that readies you for the real world, both professionally and personally. Scholarship, GSU doesn't need comparison. Health science, business, and social work are particularly strong, and the professors actually care about you. It's a school where you get more than a degree — you get the support and preparation to set you up for success after graduation. The school places great emphasis on research and service, so you get to work on projects that actually make a difference. Of course, it's not all great. Traffic in Atlanta can be a real pain. That's just part of the package when you're residing in a big city like this. Overall, Georgia State University offers a well-rounded college experience that combines strong academics, career growth, and community. If you're looking for an environment where you can grow as a student and as an individual, GSU is definitely worth a look. It's not always straightforward, but it's an institution where you can leave your mark and truly stand out.

What attracts me most to Georgia State University is the amount of opportunity it offers, especially for someone like me who is pursuing a degree in accounting. The location in the heart of Atlanta, one of the biggest business hubs in the country, immediately caught my attention. Being surrounded by so many major companies, firms, and organizations gives students the chance to gain real-world experience through internships, networking events, and connections that can truly open doors after graduation. That kind of environment is exactly what I am looking for to grow professionally.

I feel like the opportunities the school will give me will help me be the person i want to be in life. The education is shown to be very spectacular and i believe it is what will help succeed in my adult and work life. There’s also so many cultures so i feel like that will open my eyes to things i wouldn’t learn from other schools. The campus life is a plus there’s always activities and things going on that will keep me learning new things while also having fun.

I like Georgia State University because it has good programs, a diverse student body, and a great location. The cybersecurity and computer science programs can help me learn important skills and find job opportunities in Atlanta’s tech industry.

Georgia State stands out to me for its diverse student body, strong academic programs, and the university commitment to student success. The academic programs gives students real world problems that would help impact us for our careers in the future.

GSU was very nice as soon as I looked at the dorms and saw the students. It was very comfortable, the people seemed nice and it was just a great vibe. Their academic flexibility was what was interesting for me, because they have so many different colleges --- even a community college like facility called Perimeter college which I think is very beneficial for students who are not ready for a university or are not able to go straight to one because of their grades/credits. I applied for the honors college and early action application as soon as I got home from the college tour, so I hope that I get in because so far, no other school as matched my personality and my wants/needs like Georgia state.

my honest opinion about Georgia State University is that the academic environment is incredibly supportive and stimulating. The campus itself is beautiful and well-maintained providing a pleasant atmosphere. The library in particular is a fantastic resource, offering a vast collection of books and journals as well as quite study areas and collaborate spaces.

I am a third-year transfer student at Georgia State University. The professors here are helpful, and the office hours are beneficial. The class size may be large or small, depending on the course. My Organic Chemistry 2 class was large, but the office hours helped me, whereas the philosophy class was small, so there was more interaction with the professor.

It's a really good school overall especially with campus involvement. However, there is a lot of trash and homeless people around. It's extremely diverse which means that networking is very openly available. Great for creatives and those who wanna start making their own way in the city of opportunity.
