Emory University Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at Emory University accurate?

Robbie

There are a lot of Jewish students...something like 33{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} or more of the students are Jewish. There are also a lot of kids whose parents give them way too much money than they deserve or know what to do with, and there are a ton of kids from the Northeast. The amount of Jewish kids and kids from the Northeast certainly isn't a bad thing, but the amount of uptight, spoiled kids kind of is.

Daniel

to an extent, we are 30{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} jewish but it is not an all-inclusive representation of Emory.

Matt

For the most part.

Abe

Not everyone is from long island, but the others are true

Robert

To some extent. Stereotypes are just exaggerations of facts; Emory does have a large Jewish and Asian population but not all students are. Many of the students here are wealthy but again, a lot are on scholarship.

Josh

Yes

Ari

While there is a big population of people from Long Island at Emory, it is not nearly as highly represented as people put it out to be.

Adam

to some extent these stereotypes are accurate, but at the same time Emory is very diverse and you can find every type of person

Michael

of course it is partially true, but stereotypes are never correct

Brian

to an extent.

Noah

only a little

Scott

Social scene is dominated with kids from the New York area (NYC, long island, and Westchester) but they can be easily avoided

Hunter

They are to an extent.

Whitney

no. alot are but its a pretty diverse population

John

Not everyone is from Long Island although there are a lot of them here. Many students are either pre-med of pre BBA.

alex

There is a large jewish population and a large population from new york, but there are people from many other places. Emory is not as economically diverse as some other schools that I have visited. Many Korean students from Korea and black students seem to hang out in groups that only consist of people like them. I have never really witnessed much anti-semitism or any other kind of racism or clickiness.
