My favorite class is my philosophy proseminar. It's taught by this hilarious greek professor who absolutely loves teaching. His energy really makes the class what it is. I get more excited about going to this class than for I do for most of the parties I've been to. The teacher is going to be my advisor and we get along well.

Some general classes are large while other classes are much smaller. These tend to be "lab" type of classes with a TA and are usually once a week while major lecture are twice a week. Most large classes are poorly attended. Professors do not work hard to make themselves available to students outside of class. The business school has improved every year I have been enrolled and brings top name businesses to recruit GW students

Depends a lot on the professors. Honors program is excellent but large intro classes are impersonal and easy
Rory
Intellectual conversations are far and few between outside of class.
Very few people it seems are competitive in my classes. No one is prepared for class. Seemingly noone studies until a week before exams.
The academic environment sucks for someone who belongs at an ivy but couldn't get in out of HS.

The overall academics at GW are good; however, many large lecture classes tend to be too difficult and eat up a lot of time, for a course that is only a requirement where little to none of the information needs to be retained for further studies. Many of these classes are extremely hard, but the professor is very nice and curves well and gives extra credit, so no one really complains.

The best professors are the ones who do what they teach--politics, international affairs, etc. The subjects that have the worst teachers are the ones that have nothing to do with DC.

Students study pretty hard at GW. Kids seem to live in the library and starbucks. Academically i feel like it is very fufilling. The classes are intereseting, and the teachers that i have had have been accessable and knowledgeable about their topics.

Academics at GW, like earlier said, is decent. It's not at par and definitely not worth the amount of money students spend for it. GW needs some reconstruction. If we're paying such high prices, we should receive the best academics, it's basic economics.

The professors at GW know you're name when you're not in a major lecture. The international affairs, political science and history courses are very good while the math-based course aren't that good. I frequently have intellectual political and economic conversations with people outside of class. The international affairs program is very strong and most of the classes are extremely interesting.
