Iowa State University Top Questions

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about Iowa State University?

Joe

I don't brag, but one of the greatest benefits of being a Cyclone is all of the opportunities to become involved within their Greek Community. There are 30 different fraternities as well as 15 sororities, and at least 10 of them are ranked within the top 5 nationally. We are reshaping the way people think about what it means to be Greek while consistantly maintaining at or above the average male and female GPA. Our Greek Community serves the Ames community in many different ways, especially through philanthropy by raising over $30,000 each year.

Taylor

The amount of students and teachers and classes. There are so many different people that you get the opportunity to interact with and learn from.

Joe

I would have to say the best things about the university I go to are the scenery, and how friendly everyone here is.

Rebecca

My campus is beautiful and has amazing oppertunities and alot of school spirit

Matthew

Iowa State isn't a school its a community. The people here are so friendly and willing to help, that it is very uncommon to feel left-out or confused. The educational staff is eager to assist in your learning and guide you to a profession where you will succeed, and everyone else is there to support you in your journey. All of the departments are just an email or phone call away, and they are always happy to answer an question you may have along the way.

Marcus

We have a large amount of academic support systems for students who need help in a particular subject. ISU really wants its students to succeed in their pursuit of an education. The small-town feel and vast diversity of students is a great combination.

Richard

How good their engineering program is and most of the faculty in that program.

Kelli

Iowa State is an awesome school and I am so glad that I chose to further my education here! First of all if you like sports Iowa State is a great place to be because everyone is bonded together with school spirit. The professors are great as well and will do everything they can to help you succeed. I can't forget to mention the awesome food and activities they provide!

The campus is nice.

As an enigneering student, I tend to brag about the reputation Iowa State has as an engineering school. Because of the large engineering student population, Iowa State also has one of the largest career fairs in the nation. I was lucky enough to be hired as an ambassador to the career fair this year so I would brag about that. Aside from academics, Iowa State has a great athletic program. The basketball and football teams pack in a great fan base in the Hilton Colliseum and Jakc Trice Stadium facilities.

Matt

I'm involved in number one Aerospace Engineering program in the country, as rated by the Princeton Review. The teaching head of the department is an ex-NASA man, and he is one of the most knowledgable and wise people I know. There are some of the largest collegiate, research available wind tunnels in the world here, and the work possibilities are undeniably some of the most intriguing and impressive any college could hope to offer it's students.

The thing I have bragged to my friends about would probably have to be how AWESOME the campus is! It is so big, but there is SO much to see. Central campus is just incredible; the buildings and the campanile are so old yet so pretty, there are so many places to just hang out and do homework, yet it's still quiet.

Kadyn

What's there not to brag about? I usually tell people the same things I previously mentioned. I also talk about our sports and school spirit...GO CYCLONES!!! The campus is a very beautiful and natural landscape which makes for a stress-free environment everyday. Iowa State just recently finished building a large gym for students to go workout.

Taylor

When telling my friends about Iowa State University I brag the most about the campus. It is the most beautiful campus. There are so many places to study both inside and outside. There is also a lot to do on campus whether you want to go out to dinner, play volleyball in one of the gyms, or play a game of ultimate frisbee in one of the many open fields. It is the perfect size and all around a wonderful campus.

My favorite thing about ISU is the atmosphere and the people. I come from Chicago so I am used to rudeness and a rush to get places, but in Iowa I have come to see the kindness and relaxation in the air rather than the rush. I love walking around the campus and seeing the beautiful scenary. I also brag about how many places and people I can go to to get help with anything i might need. The SI sessions have saved me from failing classes mulitple times already.

Daquane

Besides us having one of the most beautiful campuses in America, I like to tell them about the level of diversity we have. I feel it could be much higher though for the fact that we are in Iowa I still think its nice. I have met people from all over the world and have made friends with many of them. I love being exposed to cultures other than my own while learning new traditions, superstitions, and most exciting trying new foods that I never knew existed. From clothes to games I have learned a lot about others around me.

Madison
