While attending college I have gotten better at time management and how to buy things on a very low budget. These are both important to know because in my profession time management is very important when baking multiple things at once. Buying on a budget is important also because there will be times in everyones life when money is tight and saving is most important. It has been valuable to attend this college because if I want to continue my career in the culinary feild education is the key. I am hoping that my education will open a lot of doors for me to work and learn new things that I could not learn in school. All this education and learning will eventually lead to me to open my own bakery and become very successful.

I have gotten allot of things in my short experience such being open to new people and ideas. Just because I person way seem very different then you does not mean you do not have allots in common. That's one reason why college is so valuable you just don't learn about your majors; you learn about other people's backgrounds and way of life. Another thing I have gotten out my college experience is just enjoy your time there. If you are going to a place for four years you have to at least enjoy it. College is a totally different experience then high school.

I will be honest, I have made mistakes during my college career thus far. In the beginning, i didn't know what i was getting myself into. I was unepared for the hard work and stamina it takes to be a full time student. Not only this, but I was completely unsure of what I wanted to major in right after high school. After not doing so well for a semester, i took some time off to get a job and see what the real world was like. I worked in retail for a shoe store for a little over a year and realized that it was certainly not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I wanted to be more successful than that, I wanted to make a name for myself. So I switched jobs to something different (that was a little bit more flexible), and went back to school at a community college. I raised my grades and took classes to figure out what i wanted to major in, and transferred to a respectable college in Rhode Island. Its important to get an education to be a successful and educated business woman.

I have been to college once before and recieved my associates degree in Applied Science, which allowed me to practice Radiologic Technology. This education was wonderful for me at the time, because I was a young single mother. It gave me the privledge of having a job to support myself and my daughter. I am attending a community college until August, which then I will be starting my undergraduate study at D'Youville College in the Physicians Assistant Program. College now is not only giving me an education, it is also giving my children a positive rolemodel to look up to. My children can see that an education is priceless at any age. The first education I recieved help give me the courage and knowledge I need now to pursue my new goals. When I am finished with school I will be a positive role model for my whole family, because I have been the first person in my entire family to pursue college, and I will have a Master's Degree. I will also have the privledge of using my education and applying it in the real world, by helping patients!

I've learned a lot of valuable knowledge and resources that will help me when I'm out in the industry.

Crystal

I am majoring in Hospitality major. What I have learnt that most valuable is not from the lines of the book but from my experience while I had interaction with people near aroud. Hospitality is all about helping other people, wahever form of it implies. And by currency interest unbased hospitality, humanity that people losing could be found back. I hope I can apply this idea in my future career.

I strongly believe that attending Johnson and Wales University will be one of the smartest decisions I've ever made. As a freshman here at JWU I have already gained invaluable experience within my major. The university has many student clubs and organizations related to every major. Being a sports/entertainment/event management major, I have decided to get involved with the Special Events Society and the Coaching Athletic Administration and Professional Sports Club. Both of these clubs have provided me with several volunteer opportunities, as well as, various experience gaining activities. For instance, with the Coaching Athletic Adminisration and Professional Sports Club, I helped co-organize an all day basketball tournament on campus. Through SES I volunteered at several different events held throughout Rhode Island, like the Newport Food and Wine Festival and the annual Monster Dash Race. In addition to the various clubs and organizations, as a freshman I was immediately thrown into my major. In other words, instead of having to wait until my junior or senior year to have classes in my major, I am able to begin as a freshman which allows me to see whether or not I truly enjoy my chosen major.

I have gained so much out of my experiences at college. I have gained life-long friends, met people who are very valuable to my success outside of college, and had a lot of fun along the way. College is not only important because of the social aspect of it, but also because of the amount of life experiences that you gain by going out and living on your own. I have become so much more independent and self-sufficient since going to school and I have grown so much. College really is a once in a lifetime experience and its something that everyone needs to go through, it prepares you so much for your future in so many ways. College roommates teach you just how much patience you actually have by having to put up with someone who has an opposite sleeping & class schedule, and how to understand where other people are coming from because of how you are basically forced to get along with them. Overall, college was a great experience; my only regret is going through it so fast!

So far out of my college experience I have gotten really positive and helpful things out of it such as getting to no the kitchen more. How things work in the kitchen, how it's opporated, how to cook different dishes in different ways, overal how it's ran. Besides my school work I would say that the most important thing that I got from my college experience is overal how to be a better person. Since my first year of college I can really tell that I have changed and matured alot from when I was in high school, which is a wonderful thing. I was always the shy perosn in high school and never really said anything to my really close friends. When I graduated from high school I made sure that I would attend college out of state so that I would see how things where in other places that I have never been before. Now I'm more out spoken, I'm talk-a-tive, I have more friends, people enjoy being around me more. So I think that me coming to school out of state really helped me out alot in the long run.

My college experience has many ups and downs. College can be alot of fun, but it also is a lot of work. I attended a junior college in Minnesota where I played baseball and had a full load of classes and never took less then 16 credits per semester. I was able to play baseball full time, go to every class and never missed a day, and even had a lot of time to party and hang with friends. I had many nights where I would not sleep because I had to study for a couple tests or I got back late from a baseball game late and had to finish some of my homework. Every person should be required to attend college. College is not only for getting a good education, but it is a place to meet a lot of great people and a place where you get a lot of great memories. At any college you will meet a wide variety of people that will be your friends for the rest of your life. Your college friends will spend the last 2 or 4 years of life with you. Go to college you will not regret it.

Currently Iam going in to college. But I am hoping to get a great education and a life experience. Going into the culinary arts I hope to learn lots about the arts and in the process make some new freinds. The school is a great school so I feel honored to be atending this school. In high school i wasnt the best student and I always told myself that i would never get into college, but now being accepted and registed in this school it gives me hope and thats a great feeling. So far it has valued me by showing that I dont have to go to a high culinary arts school. I can get the same education in a Tech school. But right now I dont have alot of money to attend. I only make ends meat. But I hope that this school can give me a great eduaction, a fun experience, and to gain some new freinds. So please choose me I would be honored

College has taught me to trust myself, my opinions, and to look at the world three-dimentionally. It's very difficult to apply critical thinking skills when you've spent your whole life being told to see everything in one particular way. College has taught me new ways of viewing the world, and it has taught me to be confident in my perceptions, to always questions truth, and to see value in differences.

Darius

I havent attended currently, but i hope to get a new experience in my major which is Culinary Arts as well as make new and trustworthy friends. Stay connected and network with teachers and faculty at the school.

When I hear my mother crying in the kitchen because she is unable to find a way to pay for certain necessities while I am in college, I have often wondered if it is really worth the trouble. I have just completed my freshman year and looking back, I have realized that college, once my biggest fear, is now my golden oportunity. Originally, I thought that college was just going to be about parties and friends. After this year however, I've tasted success and I've realized that college is my one opportunity to turn my life around and I know that I can do it. I've gained enthusiam and motivation because I learned how to succeed in an environment that I was terrified to begin last fall. I have become more independent after living on my own so now I know how to support myself and my mother has one less person to stress about. I was immature in high school but college has turned me into an adult with goals in life. At this point, I appreciate everything in life ten times more since college and I would give anything to obtain enough money to return.

So far i have learned that college is a reality check. It makes a young immature person grow up and realize that mommy and daddy are not always going to be there to save you or to call the teacher when you miss class. College is important for your future, it is waht determines if you get your dream job or not. It is valuable to attend not only because you get a better education, but you learn about new experiences, you meet new people, you experiences environments that you are not used to. College is what opens the eye to a young adult.

I have started an educaion that will help me in attaining a degree that will help me in starting my own business when I graduate. I feel that you need an education after high school to get anywhere in this world today and by me getting that education I will be able to help myself as well as others. College experience is so different than high school, the learning classes are different not like a typical high school class room. The feeling is open and easier for the mind to learn, yes, you have work to get done but the atmosphere is more relaxed and I believebetter than normal class rooms in high school. College learning and campus life is like a business all in it self, we are there from many different places with one thing in mind to learn because we want to not that we have to because we do.

"College has helped me become a better communicator and critical thinker. It has allowed me to meet many new people and hear many new perspectives." "College has helped me become a stronger leader. I've learned so much from my classes and my activities outside the classroom. It's a great opportunity to learn who you are and to prepare for the 'real world.'" "I've done so many things that I had never done before. I explored the city all by myself, took a bus to a different state and took a road trip with my school's Alternative Spring Break group. I joined a bunch of groups and activities, and I learned to get myself up in the morning!"
