i don't know to be honest because Im living in the future not the past. But if i could I would say to just focus on my school work and nothing else.

Go after your dreams. Think very good what it is you want to do for the rest of your life and find the right program that will help you to achieve that. All around you see people that are working in jobs they don't like, regretting the choices they made. Don't be one of those people. And always, always smile :)

Sarah

I would tell myself to not be so afraid to take chances with school. I would have gone right into school rather than taking a year off.

Danielle

I would tell myself to meet as many people as possible, when living in dorms leave your door open when possible. Join clubs and enjoy everything you do. Take as many oportunites as are presented to you. Don't procrastinate, get things done early. Relax and have fun.

Danielle

If I had known as a high school senior what I knew now about college life I would have first of all told myself to start attending Johnson & Wales University in my senior year of high school through their high school program. Also, I would have told myself that college isn't anything like high school so don't expect it to be.

Kyle

I would tell myself to save as much money as possible because I definitely need it. There is a lack of employment for college students in Providence. I would also tell myself to take things slow and don't jump the gun on any situations. Keep yourself focused on the work, there is more than enough time for play outside of class.

to study harder and keep in touch with my friends more often

be open minded to everything. never take anything for granted and think before you act. live your life to the fullest but becareful how far you go. never underrate yourself because you have a lot of potential in you. use the first month of school to make friends cause that when you make your friends for life. you don't have to be best freinds with your roomate but at least, let there be respect. enjoy it while you can because it goes quicker than you think. plus apply for scholarships early, because when it's too late , it's too late.

Tatiana

The college you chose should feel like a second home. When you pick a college make sure that not does the college feels right but also the community around it.

Samantha

Apply to more then one college. Have and idea of what you want to major in during college. Have fun at school. Don't take on took much.

Don't try and force your child into something they don't want to do or a school they don't want to go to. It's their future and their choice. Just don't be afraid to ask questions about anything relating to their choices they may not have thought of everything but remember to not push your own opinions to much.

Nathan

get a work-experience idea of what the employers in your desired industry demand from you as an employee, and decided if that is really what you want to invest time and money into in order to work that job as a career.

Samantha

My advice. Let them choose where your son/daughter wants to go to school. Give them a few guidelines like public transportation nearby, under 30,000 dollars and etc. If you pick the school they go to thye may end up pushing back because it wasn't what they wanted and then they'll mess you their furture with bad grades. If necessary spend one week at the beginning of the summer traveling around to colleges visting campuses. Or better yet spend one weekend doing while college classes are still in session so you can get the full effect of what the college is going to be like when they get to campus.

Teale

In order to find the right school you should visit the school during the academic year. Walk around campus and see how the students interact with eachother. Talk to some of the students and ask them what they think about the school and if they recommend it for you or your child to attend.

The advice I would give to parents and/or students about finding the right college is to pick somewhere that both the student and parent is comfortable with and enjoys. Depending on the type of area they are from, they might want to be somewhere they are more accustomed to. The reason I chose Johnson & Wales was because it was far, but not to far from home. I was able to travel back and forth as much as I liked. Another piece of advice that I would give parents and/or students about making the most of the college experiences, is by getting out and doing new and fun things, whether it be joining a frat/sorority, or maybe a club or organization, or just going out and trying new things and meeting new people. College is all about finding yourself, and no matter what you do, you should have fun and embrace the experiment, because it goes by quicker than you know it.

I would advise parents to enable their children to make a decision they are comfortable with being their children will have to make a life out of their college environment and career. Supporting and understanding you child is very important in a college athmosphere since it is such a drastic change. Their children will need to live with their decision made at this time in their lives so dont judge their character becasue everyone makes mistakes. Not only do kids need their parents but they need a friend. Never forget that.

You need to make the decision for yourself and your future. You cannot choose for anyone else, and don't let anyone make you feel like you cant suceed at your true dream. You can achieve anything you want and be anything you want as long as you have the determination and drive to get there. Only you can know what college experience you want, and don't waste it on finding a school that just looks cool. Trust yourself to make the right decision, because it is for you. Most importantly, apply early!! Show the school you're serious and give yourself option so you don't stress.

While using internet searches and pamphlets to find the right college can be a wonderful start, visiting the campus and talking to students of the college is key in finding the right school. Making yourself familiar with these not only helps you make an informed decision choosing a school, but it can help you once you are enrolled. Having friends at school is very important, even if you are still living at home. It is great to have someone helf you in your time of need, in case you need to set up a study group, call someone for information you may have misunderstood during class, or even just someone to keep you on your toes. Being familiar with faculty and your fellow students can help you in every aspect of college life: applying, choosing a school, and being successful in your studies.
