Kaplan University is an online school with students from all over the world. Students are from all different walks of life. There are students right out of high school, working parents looking to further their job opportunites, single mothers working towards a career while managing a family, and even members of our military attend Kaplan University Online. Being that our student body is so diverse we don't really see the stereotyping that is prevalent in campus based schools.

One of the benefits of Kaplan University online is that there are no stereotypes. The online environment requires alot of self discipline and a desire to learn and succeed. Every student is here because they have made a personal choice to further their education. Without having the typical stereotypes as other on campus environments their is no risk of bullies or not feeling at ease to be ones-self.

Not being from the area I had to rely on word of mouth as to the reputation of Kaplan University. For the most part, everything I heard was impressive. However when I actually started to take some classes I realized a few things. Most people seem to view Kaplan as the "Plan B" so to speak. Drop out of high school? Can't seem to get your life together? Come to Kaplan! Sounds promising doesn't it? Now I'm not saying I dropped out of high school or my life was heading down a one way street to destruction, but even so they dropped the ball.

I do not see Kaplan as having a stereotype of student. I have ran in to a lot of different people while attending Kaplan and the University has different kinds of students from different states and different reason's on why they are currently enrolled with Kaplan University.

I do not believe there any type of sterotypes at kaplan.If i had to choose i would say geeks! From my point of view Smart young individuals that are serious about their education and are willing to do anything to make sure their goal is complete. Whether it be to out smart another individual or to try and be a teachers pet assuming they will get a good grade for doing so.

The only real stereotype that is related to the school is the one where most new students think that because you work at your own pace the coures and assignments are easy. This stereotype is not accurate in the least students must work hard to excel at Kaplan University.

The students at my school are those who are eager to learn, succeed, and accomplish goals. Many of the students attending Kaplan University are education seeking individuals. Most of us are stay-at-home parents who needed a convenient way to continue our education, and found it at Kaplan.

Since I'm doing online schooling I'd have to say the stereotype is older people going back to school and have full time jobs and kids. While this is an accurate stereotype I have had students in my class that are young and single.
