Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods is a great school for people who are learning to acclimate in a college environment. It\'s a great start for those who want to transfer into a University. Both professors and administrative faculty are available and supportive. There are always events occurring on-campus that promotes student engagement.

Its a great two year school where you can get your associates degree than transfer to a four year university. Its cheap and pretty nice environment. If you have the A plus program than life it will be easy for you and if you decided not do that A plus program like me, and be a dummy, the tuition rate is very affordable but I am thinking about the transfer university and how expensive it will be for me.

I have only been a student for a semester but most of my teachers have been lovely and very helpful. Every classmate I've talked to was very happy to help if I ever needed it. The administration has also been very helpful. I have not eaten at the cafeteria but I haven't heard anything bad.

My overall opinion of Maple Woods is really good. The professors are very approachable and fast at responding to emails. The campus feels very safe and we can frequently see office security walking around helping to ensure the safety of the students. There are several study areas available to students including the library, math lab, writing lab, and the student center.

Maple woods has changed my life. They believed in me from the very first semester and offered me a student leadership position that helped to shape my values on education. The staff cares. They are motivating and people I plan on keeping in contact with for a lifetime. My college has built a great foundation for the rest of my career and I cannot thank them enough. They’ve taught me how to communicate effective, live authentically, and live relationally. I love my college and wouldn’t be where I am today without the wonderful staff at MCC-Maple Woods. I would recommend this college to all students yearning for a better more successful life.

Great school surrounded by some great professors and some bad ones. Not much to do around the campus, but nearby Kansas City. A lot of friendly people around but not many students are outgoing and talkative. Administrators are helpful and overall fantastic. Class sizes are great for students who do better in a class that only has 20-30 students.

I did Maple Woods while I was finishing up high school via homeschooling. I made a lot of friends, enjoyed the staff, and really learned a lot. There's a lot to do on campus, but you do need to put yourself out there a little bit. You take what you put into it. If you just go to campus, go to class, and leave, you won't have a lot of fun. Join clubs! Go to events! You pay a fee for student activities; get that free stuff!

I love MCC-Maple Woods because its the perfect size campus for anyone. You don't have to walk far to get to anything. The professors and staff are extremely nice and helpful. They make sure you have everything you need to be successful at MCC. The school is focused on your success, not just being there and getting paid.

I really enjoyed my time at Maple Woods. I met people who became lifelong friends and got all of my prerequisites done for a cheaper price. I was a little sad when I realized I had finished my last class at Maple Woods. I enjoyed my time there but feel it prepared me for what is next.
Felicia
It is a safe campus and I enjoy being on it for most of my day. The teachers I feel do a good job if we need help they are there to provide it for us. The people are very friendly and are helpful towards new comers and in getting the process started when wanting to come here.
Kaitlyn
I think it is a perfect place to begin a college education. There are several campuses so it gives each student the opportunity to find the teachers and times that work best for them. Every teacher I have encountered so far cares about my success and listens to any concerns or accommodations I have.
Jessi
Maple is a good option if you are on the A+ program or if you are trying to save money. It's definitely not like a 4 year school, but if you're tight on money, want to stay close to home, or are trying to figure everything out, it's a pretty good place to start.
Hannah
Overall I am not a huge fan of Maple Woods Community College. I am very appreciative for the supportive professors (especially Dr. Richardson), that have helped me out in this past year. The campus is really easy to navigate after your first week. I still get nervous walking around campus, mainly at dark, but campus security is really good about patrolling the streets and parking lots.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
The best piece of advice for college is keep going! No matter what life throws at you and how difficult it is, don't take time off...it is so much harder to go back. Also, take advantage of the resources and help that are out there for you. Tutors and study groups can make all the difference in preparing for exams and understanding material. Don't let everyone tell you what to strive for based on money or job availablilty.....go for what you are good at and what drives you and you are guaranteed to do better in whatever it is that you desire to become.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I would have known that college courses really are more difficult than high school courses. I did well in high school without much work, and I figured college would be the same. This resulted in a 2.5 gpa for my first semester in college.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
THE WORST THING ABOUT MY SCHOOL IS THE INABILITY FOR STUDENTS TO HAVE PLACES TO INTERACT AND GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER.COMMUNITY COLLEGE ARE NOTED BY THE PUBLIC AS SLACK OFF SCHOOLS. IT DISAPPOINTS ME TO KNOW THAT SOME PEOPLE DO NOT RESPECT MY EDUCATION EVEN THOUGH I AM AS CHALLENGED IN THE CLASSROOM IN A TWO YEAR SCHOOL AS IN FOUR YEAR UNIIERSITIES.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I think that any person can attend a community college if they are patient and accepting of others. It is very different from a bigger University and the people come from all sorts of families. When you realize that everyone's goal is the same, (to get educated or get a degree) then it is much easier to accept the school for its qualities. The people are all so friendly, even if they have a rigorous academic or work schedule. The teachers are much more helpful because they can give you one-on-one attention in a smaller classroom.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
I honestly don't find it frustrating at all. I'm only taking classes at this school so that I can be accepted to an Accelerated Nursing Program at a different school. It's actually very helpful and cost-effective to have the opportunity to take classes at MCCKC.
I believe that my school is best known for their general education courses, along with the classes needed to take for nursing. I believe that the general education courses are what Maple Woods is best known for because the ability to transfer to a four-year University like MU is possible, because the classes provided are transferable to MU's gen ed courses.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
At MCC-Maple Woods all the building are separate. They are not connected. So you have to walk outside just to get to the building that your class is in. Its not like MCC-Penn Valley where the buildings are connected in someway and you can walk indoor to go to your class. But I still like it and enjoyit.
What I consider to be the best thing about my school is the A+ program. I believe that the A+ program allows more students to have the chance to continue their education even if it is for two years. I have known some students who drop out after graduating high school because of tuition, but the A+ program helps students to continue if they wish so they don't fall behind, if they wanted to continue onto a University or Technical School.
Anyone should attend this school! It prepares you for a university without the stresses of the typical college social life. This way students learn how to manage their time, so when they go to a four-year school they are prepared to handle the work and social life.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
