Morgan State University is a great post-secondary institution. As with most universities, the experience one receives is based upon what that individual makes of their time at the university. I have attended MSU since 2007 and I been through an immense whirlwind of events. Nonetheless, I believe MSU is a stellar institution that promotes academic honesty and social integrity. The best thing about MSU is the camaraderie amongst the students. Anytime something major happens on the campus the students always band together to either celebrate, mourn, or embrace something. For instance, a memorable moment I will never forget, was in 2008 when President Barack Obama was elected into office. Over 2,000 students joined in the main parking lot and celebrated, screaming and shouting for joy as the first African American president took office.
The size of the school is perfect. MSU is not the largest populated school, however, it is not small either. This environment allows students to have that much needed one on one time with professors. The class size is never too full which means students always have their professor's attention.
If I had one complaint about Morgan State University it would be the lack of technology. Technology is so important in the world and it would be an advantage to the students if MSU offered the latest technological advances. The biggest complaint amongst students would probably be financial aid. I've heard plenty of students complain about the way they were mistreated in the financial aid department as well as students complaining about how slow things process in that department.
Despite some of unfortunate circumstances Morgan State University is an awesome institution. I appreciate the quality education I receive and the great environment MSU provides.

I love the overall atmosphere of the school, yes sometimes it can be boring and you find nothing to do but other times you can have so much fun. Its the people around you that really make the school, not doing anything while attending college would be a complete waste. One thing people can't stand about Morgan is Financial Aid, I will say it is the worst at times, so quick to take money but getting money back is a miracle! Everyone has had their fair share with financial aid and all of their problems, but aside from that morgan is a great school, campus isn't too large or small. The overall appearance of Morgan is increasing as time progresses, plenty of construction is going on and once everything is done I'm sure it will make you look at the university a little differently.

Overall Morgan State University is a promising school that is growing at a ridiculous rate. With a total student population of roughly 8,000 it is still considered a small school compared to other larger institutions. Although the area where the school is located might not be considered a college-town the administrators and local community builders are developing new ideas of how to involve the nearby community on a plan to expand the university and create a college-town atmosphere locally. The school spirit is solid especially around homecoming time and with the recent successes of the athletic teams(Football and Basketball) it is always an exciting spectacle to see how students celebrate and support the teams. The school is not portrayed well in the media due to controversial incidents such as students getting involved in illegal greek life practices, but occasionally the school is celebrated in the media as an institution that excels in the sciences and liberal arts. If students complain about a certain aspect of the university, then they are mostly likely talking about the administrators at the financial services department that handles the finances of all students. Every semester some students go through a dilemma of their schedules being dropped due to miscommunication about their state of financial standing, but eventually with persistence most students resolve their financial conflicts. I personally have not had many conflicts with funding my education, but if I experienced a need for financial assistance there were clear procedures and protocol that I saw available that can help assist my circumstance. As an electrical engineering major most of my time was spent in the engineering building where I ran tests and experiments in the labs as well as studied in the engineering library. My experiences at the school were very pleasant and I would recommend individuals who want to challenge themselves to attend Morgan State University.

I love being a Morgan Bear! I am from Brooklyn, New York; I have no family or friends in the Baltimore area so I was a little nervous about starting a campus life with people I did not know. My fear of starting a social life at college quickly changed as soon as I arrived at Morgan’s Access Program. The Access Program is a program that requires all incoming freshman to spend a week at the Morgan campus, this gave me the opportunity to meet counselors, friends, and it gave me a chance to learn the campus before school officially begun. I was a student who was used to attending small schools, Morgan is by far the biggest campus I have ever experienced, however, I am comfortable here. In the beginning it was a little intimidating but I realized campus isn’t that big after all! It’s not often that I see a face that I do not recognize.
What I love best about Morgan is the school pride and tradition. Students support the football games, basketball games, prep rally’s, convocations, homecoming, and every on campus party. What I love the least is the organization of records. I never personally had an issue with the records and registration, or financial aid offices but I know a lot of peers that have. It takes a great deal of effort and self-dedication to make sure all of your school records are in order; this may include waking up at 8am to make a phone call. If you are self-motivated about your academic career at Morgan, these things will not become a problem.
There are also numerous clubs and Greek life on campus to choose from. I am a model for Fashion at Morgan. I encourage anyone to get involved on campus; it just makes the college experience enjoyable!

My overall opinion of Morgan State University. Is it is what you make it. I keep reiterating this point because Morgan is in fact an HBCU and the experiences and friendships gain over your time here will be something you will never be able to get back. So if you spend most of your time dwelling on the negative you will never get a chance to receive any of the positive. The one thing I feel I would change about the school is the Financial Aid department. It's very unorganized, so stay on your toes and make your your money is processed and in your account on time or your schedule will be dropped. We have alot of Morgan pride, so once you graduate you will be a bear for life. Get to know your Professors and chairperson of your major departments. Joined an organization, Get active in campus life. Morgan State is the place where you will discover your true self. Just make sure it is what you like.

I love my school. We are our on "family". When people talk about Morgan State who do not go to Morgan I take pride in letting them know that Morgan is not ghetto, hood, or any of those negative things that people say. Like every school of course we have thing we could do better but the overall experience that I have gotten here I wouldn't trade for anything else. There is a lot of school pride here we know how to come together. Just last semester we had a sit in at the school library because we wanted the hours to be 24/7. We have the top engineering program in the state of Maryland and we give the most bachelor degrees to African Americans in the state of Maryland. We are expanding campus now and we just got done with renovations on the main yard. Morgan State University is beautiful!

Morgan State University is a very diverse and innovative school. Currently there is major planning and reconstruction happening on campus. Morgan State will be one of the most intriguing campuses in Maryland due to the new landscape and facilities being incorporated. As a music education major at Morgan State, I have the luxury of attending my academic classes such as physics, Spanish, and math while building my craft as a musician. The music classes here at Morgan prepare their students to educators and leaders while enhancing their academic knowledge. The one thing I'd change about Morgan State is the lack of meal varieties in the cafe. Students pay thousands of dollars and barely are able to consume the horrible meals they provide. Morgan State campus needs more variety of vegetarian and healthy places to eat such as Salad Works or Subway. The size of Morgan State is just right depending on your major, for example, if you stay on campus at Blount Towers and your an engineering major you may want to leave for class about 20 minutes before it starts due to the far distance the two are apart, but if you stay at Blount Towers and you’re a music major, the music building is right across the street. So depending on your major, the campus can either be too vast or just right. In my opinion, the Morgan State Band under the direction of Mr. Melvin Miles, is one of the most exciting, electrifying ensembles in Maryland so when I say I attend Morgan State University, people react with delight that I have the pleasure of being a part of such a great ensemble. The band travels all the time all around the east coast playing and marching to some of the greatest modern songs out today. If you don’t have a car and don’t enjoy taking public transportation like myself, you may be subject to staying on campus, but there’s a bus right in front of the dorms that goes downtown Baltimore where there’s plenty to do, such as the mall, movie theaters, and several shopping places. The Baltimore Harbor is a major city attraction located about 10 minutes from campus filled with tourist and many diners to enjoy. David Wilson, Morgan State’s current president is doing a tremendous job encouraging students and keeping up the legacy of former president Earl Richardson. The campus has recently added a PNC bank right in the student center and is currently awaiting the arrival of Auntie Ann’s pretzel shop all under the guidance of Dr. Wilson. Morgan State has a strict tolerance with their admittance. Students are required to maintain a 2.0 GPA and are offered tutoring and private instruction yearly. Our championship winning basketball team is the schools pride. “WE ARE THE BEARS” is our chant during games and pep rallies. The schools spirit is at a rise with sorority and fraternity involvement to build the moral on campus with “I Love Morgan Day”, and “Rep Your School Colors Day”. Although Morgan State is a top notch school, there are many things to improve that students complain about. The fraternities and sororities are serious about getting their “yard” back which is a way to broadcast their fraternity around campus such as tree painting and painted benches. The President is currently finding options to make the campus look organize and meet the Greeks request. Also students complain about the library not having enough computers that print especially during finals week. The one thing I look forward to every year at Morgan State is graduation. This is my last semester. I will be a college graduate in May 2012. The campus spirit during graduation is beautiful. Parents and friends all around campus enjoying themselves with smiles and laughter for their child’s success. Balloons and signs all around, “CONGRATS”, “GREAT JOB”. The thought of this day makes me fill with joy.

My overall opinion of Morgan State University is that we are a family-oriented school. The support system is amazing! We fall, stand, and unite together. Our small-knit community allows us to cross paths with many networking opportunities.

Starting answeringThe best thing about Morgan State University is that they provide students that are disadvantage a chance to better themselves into productive citizens. One thing I will change about Morgan State University is mostly the food quality, and the housing that they provide for students. Morgan State is also growing, and the current size of the campus is quite large right now and it’s only increasing. When I’m on I spend most of my time in class, considering I commute, and if I have any leisure time I’m usually in one of Morgan State university computer labs or library. Overall the administration of the university is great, but need more structure is all that they do, for example financial aid. Recent controversy on campus that has happened in recently, was the sit in, in the library where students wanted longer hours to study. One thing that is unusual about Morgan State University that not negative is that even though Morgan is a HBI it still competes and out beat other TWI in different undergraduate and doctorial programs. !

I LOVE MSU . There is not other school like it because not all schools are the same .
Your teachers ginuwinly care about your education and exahust all endevors to help you . this is a just right school and everyone is the backbone for someone else. We recently had some students who died during FA 2011 semester and everyone came together as a unit . Even the President , Dr. Wilson helped during the trying time . the student who died was considered my brother and everyone loved him.
There is alot of school pride, particulary during the homecoming and game seasons and even after. people come from all over the world to fellowship with Greek Lines , parade helpers and watchers , its really amazing
