Some know my name. I don't have a fav. class. My least fav. class is com112. I dunno about other student but I study my but off. Class participation is common. Yes there are intellectual conversations outside of class. No I don't think students are competitive. The most unique class I have taken is ANS150. My major id preparing me to enter vet school someday. No I do not spend time w. professors outside of class unless I need to ask them something during their office hours. NCSU has some hard academic requirements b/c some stuff doesn't even pertain to my major but I still have to take the course. I think the education is geared towards both.

Some of my professors know my name, but not all of them. I don't really care if they don't know my name or not. All I care about is my work and the grades. My favorite class was def. HS 100 (Home Horticulture)with Professor Bryce Lane. He was funny, and interesting, told us stories..it was great. My least favorite, MEA 135 (Weather and Climate) the professor is VERY rude, and the class just sucks. I wouldn't know how often students study, its really up to them. I can have an intellectual conversation outside of class. If it is an interesting topic, why not talk about it? Some students are really competative, but I don't pay attention to them. If you stress yourself out trying to do better on a test then someone else, you'll go crazy. NCSU's academic requirements...where to begin. I understand the gpa requirements. But, having to transfer from one department to the other is really frustrating. The gpa requirements differ from department to department, classes don't always transfer..etc. Its a lot of unnecessary work. If you have one bad semester your freshman year, it takes a LONG time to bounce back. I don't think they should split up the school like that. It makes life difficult for all of us.

Indeed, professors do know me by name. My favorite class would have to be my first ethnobotany class, while my least favorite would have to be my first physics class. Students here study quite frequently, and class participation is required here (and thus very common). As students, we have many intellectual conversations and debates outside of class, and regardless of opinions discussed in them, we find them quite enjoyable. Competitiveness here is at a minimum--students tend to work together quite a bit in order to achieve their goals. You are very likely here to develop friends in all of your classes because of this. The most unique class I have taken would have to be my first ethnobotany class. My department/major is amazing--regardless of how many there are of us, the professors/advisors know all of the students by name, and frequently socialize outside of class with students in organizations, when they run into students on campus, and, in general, whenever you walk into their offices! I do indeed spend time with professors outside of class, in spite of the large class sizes we have here. I think NCSU's academic requirements are for the most part very valid, with the exception of a few odd and end classes. Education at NCSU can be geared towards either getting a job or learning in general--advisors and professors let you mold your education in the way it will be most useful to you as a person.

Some do. My favorite classes are my social work classes. Least favorite is math. Students study an average amount of time. In some classes, other classes participation is forced. Not really. I think so. I don't think I've taken a unique class. Social work is an excellent department. The professors and advisors are amazing, very knowledgable and approachable. Only during advising. I think they are at an average level. I think learning is geared toward learning for its own sake in most majors, but in some it's more toward getting a job.

Professors do know my name. My favorite class had to be ENG 101, just because i became so close with my classmates and professor. We were in that class for 4 days a week, so we saw each other more than any other class. Also the fact that the class was small, it aided in our closeness.

-some of them do, most of my classes are kinda large so its hard for the professor to know everyone -favorite:

the majority of the professors in my major do know my name. my major isn't that small, but at the same time, my classes are small enough to the point where there is no reason for a teacher not to learn my name throughout the semester. class participation is common in classes because the majority of teachers make it required for part of your grade. as usual, you always have that one person that you want to stop talking because they waste more of the class participating than you've actually learned. i'd have to say my favorite class at ncsu has been ENT201 which was insects and people. dr. sorenson took the time out in the beginning of the semester to bring a camera and take pictures so he could put a name and a face with every student. this class was well over 150 people. not being a science oriented person, he made the understanding of insects something that was easy and seemed almost second nature. one of my least favorite classes at ncsu has been statistics. the class was very difficult because of the way it was taught due to the graduate student that was teaching it. there was not much room for error in this class.

No. My favorite class is E115. My least favorite is Chemistry. Some students in more difficult majors study all the time and others not so much. Class participation is common in most classes. Yes they have intellectual conversations. Students are competitive. I'm in First Year College, meanin I haven't declared a major yet. No. Some of the requirements are ok, but some I feel are pretty pointless. I think the education is greared toward both.

Not all of my teachers know my name because some of the classes are fairly large; however in the smaller classes the professors usually know everyone.I feel like our academic requirements are at the perfect level to challenge us and to help us succeed in the real world.I do not spend time with my professors outside of class... Nor do I know anyone who does.
