I currently attend a community college in Placerville, California. I have been going to this school since 2005 on and off. Since I have been here I have learned alot about my self and what I want to do for my future. I have realized that my life latley needs a bounce back into action and I need to take a leap towards furthering my education for my family. I started college when I was still attending the last part of my senior year in high school. I had just had a baby and gone through a hard task of adoption being that I was only 16 years of age. The only thing that kept me going was school and kept me up on my feet. I dont feel that I would be here today if it wasnt for me staying in school in between having my two beautiful children. College has given me an edge on my future and a path to success that i would not change for anything.

The college experience has really helped me to mature and grow up as a person and also grow closer in my realtionship with God. And I also absolutely love everything that I am learning and I look forward to knowing that I am going to learn so much more in my upcoming years at North Greenville. I have also learned and found that I have made some of my closest friends here at North Greenville, and that I will be friends with them for the rest of my life.

I have found out what I wanted to do in life.

Perhaps the most amazing thing that I have experienced thus far at North Greenville is simply the brotherhood that has formed in my house. I live in a house on campus with 8 other house mates, and so far it has been an awesome experience. We all have similar interests and we love to hang out with each other. The two best things about our house is our Monday night Bible study and our ability to work out problems amongst the housemates. Our Bible studies bring us closer together and help us learn more about Christ's love at the same time. Just a few days ago, one of our housemates seemed like he was just mad at the world and everyone in it. We finally all sat down with and talked it out, and haven't had any problems since then. So sure, college is all about furthering education, but being in a house full of Christian brothers will both help me be successful in studying and forming friendships that will last a lifetime.

I have learned so much about myself, and my studies. I have loved everything about my experience, but my favorite class would have to be this past summer.I took a study abroad class to Costa Rica. There I learned my Spanish, which is what I am minoring. I experienced the culture and the people. It was everything I could ever wish for. I think it is so valuable for someone to go to college, because it is not just about learning the classes, it is also about figuring yourself out. I have learned so much about myself, my learning habits, the people around me, why I am the way that I am, and who I would like to be. It is such an important part of your life, and you need to take it with everything you got, because this is your life now, this is what you are striving for. Make each moment count.

I have learned so much in the specific field I want to work in that I couldn't have otherwise. I have learned what really interests me and what will make me happy.

While I was a freshman at UNC Charlotte, I didn't really feel like I was at college. When you attened a college most of the time it is supossed to feel like a second home to you. I didn't feel this way while I at UNCC. It almost felt like a job I had to get up and go to everymorning, since I was a communter student from home. I also didn't like how big the campus was and how I just felt like another number on the campus. When I decided to transfer to North Greenville I was welcomed everytime I would come to vist by such kind people. Since I have started school here at NGU, I have been welcomed by more people in the 3 months I have been here more than I was the whole year at UNCC. I also get to learn and have a biblical influence in most of my classes which is valueable to me. So being treated like a real person and not just a number and going in my faith really have made attending NGU a valuable experience for me.

So far i have made many life-long friends that i know will always be there for me. I have also learned a lot about religion and Christianity. College has been great for the first year, and i can not wait to attend North Greenville University for another 3 years.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior knowing what I know now I would share several pieces of advice. First would be choosing the right collage. Don?t go somewhere just because your friends are going, don?t go where there are no rules enforced and don?t pick a college based on the fact that you have all the freedom you want. The more freedom and fewer rules set the stage for potential trouble. Many people find themselves shipwrecked and stranded in actives that they know they shouldn?t be apart of so just be careful. Freedom is one of the best things about college but you need to know how to manage your time. The reason for going to college is to get an education so remember that fact. Education comes first so work hard, have some fun and be prepared to have the time of your life. College is not suppose to be a scary place so don?t be afraid to talk to people and get involved in some aspect of college life. Don?t waste the time that you have been given.
