Apply for more scholarships, especially academic scholarships. Make lots of friends, study hard, work hard, and always remember how much you want to be a teacher, so work hard to achieve that goal.

I would give the advice to anyone so that they are better equiped than I was when I transitioned to college from high school.
I would say that you should take as many AP classes so you could get a feel for the work load at college. Everyone who knows time management skills know that it is a wonderful thing to have. The reasoning being because when you go to college you are on your own and you are forced to learn time management skills. It would be better for you if you learned them while in high school. I would also say that you must start to take responsibility in getting yourself up in the morning, doing your laundry, and having your homework done in a timely fashion. This will help any student transition to college more easily if they start doing these things in high school.

Having completed a semester of college, there are two things I would tell my past-self: meet as many people as you can, and start slowly. Everyone wants to have a couple close friends, but walking onto a college campus for the first time can seem lonely despite the crowds of students. By taking chances and meeting many people, it is easy to have a wide selection of people with whom you spend your time. Over time, it will get easier to see who will become your really close friends. One of the mistakes I made as a freshman was overbooking myself in the first few weeks. I took on 20 hours of classes, a play on campus, and an ultimate frisbee team. My busy schedule made my first semester stressful and difficult. I would explain to my past-self to take time adjusting to the new lifestyle. There is plenty of time to get involved and doing everything in the first semester only causes stress. I may not be able to redo my first semeser, but I can always take my own advice during the second semester.

Make sure that the college that you pick is, in fact the one for you, don't ever go somewhere because someone else wants you to. Be yourself, and make friends, everyone is scared just like you are. Work, study hard, and get a lot of sleep.

If I could go back in time and talk to mysef as a high school senior I would tell mysef to RELAX. I would tell myself to stop spending so much time worrying about the inevitable and spend more time with my family and friends and enjoy my last year in high school. I would tell myself to get involved in more activities and do well in school but also to know when to take a break and have fun. I would remind myself that I won't be seeing much of my family anymore and to spend as much time with my brothers as I can, no matter how annoying they may get.

Now is the time for a change. No more fooling around in highschool with drama and relationships and friendships that don't matter and are petty. College is where life really happens. This is where you get ready for your career. This is where you meet the friends you will have forever. This is where you really have to make important decisions and choose carefully. It's time to mature and know that you are now an adult. Get ready to have fun, but to remember your responsibilities as well. A wave of fun and work and play is about to wash over you. Get ready for it. Make sure you plan and prioritize. That will be the solution to many problems you may have. Get ready to have the time of your life!

I would take everything i learned in high school and try to be able to remember all that i was taught because college is A LOT different than high school. I would work harder than i did.

To take things slow. Talk to your parents, friends, relatives, pastor, etc. They all have great advise and points that should be considered. Definately for me, it was a wrong choice to choose a huge school like Clemson University. Here at North Greenville University, it is like I never left home. Although the classes are very demanding, they are extremely interesting and the professors are here for you, not the pay check that so many larger schools seem. True, reading pages a day is hard, and tryign to fit in activities between studying, but campus life does make things easier. From the laid back and welcoming attitude of the faculty, to the helpfulness of the RAs, to the simplicity of the campus, it makes things go a little smoother.

Knowing what I know now, if I were able to go back and talk to myself in high school, there are a few things I would tell myself. First of all, I would tell myself to never settle for less. I know that caught up in the moment, we are just ready to get out of school, but with higher grades, we have more room for success. I would tell myself to push hard all the way until the end. I would also tell myself not to worry about popularity. In the end, being the most popular doesn't really count for anything except self-pride. I would tell myself to keep my head held high and not let the little petty things get me down.

If I went back in time to counsel myself about college life, I would first of all stress the importance of time management. In college, you are more or less on your own. It is you who decides when you go to bed, when you do work, when you eat, where you go, and etc. The indepence of college however, comes with the responsibility of time management. Managing your time and planning out yur academic week is very important to college life. Time management enables you to make high grades as well as spend plenty of time with family and friends. It is important to be able to prioritize responsibilities. There is a time and a place for everything, especially if your time is managed well. Time management also includes not procrastinating. In college, many assignments are not mentioned or done in class, rather they and their due dates are listed in the syllabus. It is essential to plan out when to complete assignments. The assignments are too big and worth too much to wait to the last minute and do a bad job on them. In order to do your best work, manage your time wisely.
