the students are welcoming and excited about their lives and they know why they are attending Oklahoma State University
Matthew
People think all the students do is party. This is accurate on the weekends usually. The students are also very focused on grades during the week.

Oklahoma State has a reputation of being an Agricultural university. That is, small town, full of rednecks, and totally friendly. Stillwater may be a small city but the people aren't! Agriculture is a big deal at OSU but we're also known for our Engineering college and other programs like Apparel Assembly and Hotel and Restaurant Management. Though some students are from small towns, a huge number are from cities. The stereotype that is true is the friendliness of the people who attend this University. I have never been a place where people more actively seek to lend a helping hand, whether it's directions the the newly renovated student union or the opportunity to engage in research as a Freshman.

A lot of people believe that everyone at OSU is an aggie or a cowboy since it is a land grant agricultural college. There are a lot of ag majors, however, we have students from all different walks of life. There are lots of international students, greek students, athletes, etc. Most students fit into more than one category; we have a very diverse campus.

Here at Oklahoma State University I don't really know that there is a stereotype. There is a diverse mix of every stereotype you can think of including Fratties, Nerds, and Jocks.
Connor
A common stereotype of Oklahoma State University students successfully represents our school and mascot: Cowboys. There is a high percentage of students that come from rural towns all over Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, etc., and along with the stereotype is the positive and respectful demeanor of cowboys that makes our campus a welcoming community.

Oklahoma State does have some sterotype, but it is not bad!! I see it most with the greeks and the non greeks, and it is usually accurate.
Justin
Oklahoma State University is commonly stereotyped as the "redneck school," because of our large Agriculture program and location in the state of Oklahoma. However, a visit to OSU will quickly show that this campus is very diverse and there is not one singular type of student here. Although OSU's Agriculture program is impressive, we also boast some of the top Sports Media, Education and Engineering programs in the country.

The stereotypes of Oklahoma State University are the normal college stereotypes plus Agriculture kids and a redneck stereotype. We have the jocks, the stoners, and the greeks. However, the majority of these stereotypes are incorrect. Most everyone I have met have been nice, everyday students. I woulnd't pay much attention to the stereotypes here because you can avoid all of them easily.

Most are labeled as "Preppy" but honestly people have different styles that you can't really just categorize them in one category; so this stereotype is not accurate.
