The best thing about Quinnipiac are the first and last months of the year. The campus is beautiful and everyone is outside and friendly. During the new england winters it can be depressing at times but still fun for the most part. The school is a bit too small for my liking but theres not much they can do about that as they seem to have some overcrowding problems here. Quinnipiac's Residential Life is an absolut joke, they are out to screw students it seems at times, in order to have a good time its better to be off campus on the weekends. Not to mention they took may weekend away from us this year. School pride is rising with the new arena but almost non-existent at times. Freshmen year in the commons was the best year, but there are great memories from all my time spent here, despite my complaints.

The people here are all very nice, everybody holds the door for everybody. Our school is about to explode on the national scene, and it's very exciting because we're really on the brink of becomming a very big school. Every class gets to be the "first" in something...my class was the first class to have a full season in our brand new area, next years class will be the first to have the new cafeteria. Every year gets a bit more challenging, so our reputation is contantly growing for the better. People like to party on campus, off-campus parties, theres a handful of bars, and the "clubbing" scene in New Haven is very popular. The college town is there if you have a car and a 21+ id, otherwise you might be stuck for a year or two. Fake Id's are a must for most people, but not all, depends on your friends. Everyone seems to hate the president, which is probably fair. He isn't very personable and his politics don't always agree with the students. He runs this school like a business, we have a lot of money to expand, but the students get screwed sometimes. Housing is NOT guarenteed for all 4 years, it is a horrible lie, many, many students (I do not have the exact number but I know it is well into the hundreds, im guessing 400) do not get housing their 2nd year and even 3rd sometimes. The school newspaper is completly censored by our president, he gets the final say on all interviews done by the administration, to protect our image. Fair, but hypocritical in a institution of higher learning and an esteemed school of communications. School pride is lacking at times, but huge during the hockey games.

Quinnipiac is a gorgeous school where the academic programs are rigorious. Orientation for incoming freshma is an awesome weekend.

Sarah

The campus is gorgeous, which is what attracts so many people. Everyone hates the visitor policy though. People often complain that the school takes more money from the students than it should. If you don't have a car, you probably won't spend much time off campus.

Ryan

The campus is gorgeous. Great professors, small classes. New Haven is very close and available. Shuttles run there all day every day. Wouldn't switch colleges for the life of me.

Stephanie

Quinnipiac has a beautiful campus. It is a small school where everyone knows everything about you. The town has everything you need but New Haven is where everything is at.

Campus is pretty sweet. Good food selection. You also have a great view of Sleeping Giant Mountain. The mountain is closeby so you can walk up to the top if you so wish. Only two fraternities because the douchebags like to fight eachother and there wont be any more fraternities until these guys kiss and make up. Hmmm, there's wireless internet connection. Tis good and bad. Good: you can go anywhere on campus and have internet. Bad: you can go everywhere on campus and not have internet.

KC

The best thing is the location, sleeping giant mountain is beautiful and New Haven is so close and there's a lot to do there. It's just about the right size, a little bit bigger class size would be nice. Girl to guy ratio is too big, too many girls. Hamden is boring. Parking is limited and a pain. Library is too small.

Mel

I love Quinnipiac. It's set off in a beautiful place, but there's plenty to do on the weekends. There's shuttles into New Haven so you never have to worry about getting a ride or how to get back. It's not for people that love the city though.

Katie

the size is perfect, its too expensive, beautiful campus, alot of fun events, sleeping giant is across the streeet and perfect for smoking and taking a hike, the hockey season is tuns of fun to go watch, theres always a party going on, the town is nice and new haven it close enough to go clubbing hookah baring or w/e.

I believe the size of this school is just right, not too big but not too small. New Haven is a good college town because the clubs are fun and you around well-known schools like Yale. The adminstration was always very helpful. It is a well known school because of the polling institute, and has a pretty good reputation. If i could change a few things I would choose parking; the shuttle service is so unreliable, and having to park off campus is such a pain. When you want to drive onto campus right in front of your building the security gives you such a hard time, which I think is ridiculous. Also, the diversity on campus is still very small. I know they are trying to expand this, but I feel like it is much less than other colleges.

QU is the right size for me, not too big but not too small. When I tell people that I go to Quinnipiac, they either have no idea how to pronounce it, or they know someone who has been a student here. Hamden is not a college town at all. There are shuttles that run between campus and the center which are just shopping plazas. New Haven is a little more of a college town because Yale and Southern Connecticut State University are located there. The biggest recent and ongoing controversy is about the school's newspaper, The Chronicle.

Sara

I enjoyed the size of my classes. I think the biggest class I had was maybe 30 people. Other than that, most of my class sizes were in the teens. Most of my professors have been awesome, but I've had a few professors that have made me want to gouge my eyeballs out. Having graduated, I've learned that some of these professors will do anything for their students once they're in the real world, meaning recommendations, passing along a job they know about, or just catching up through e-mail. My freshman year I was so homesick and was thinking about transferring. I really didn't think it was the place for me, but honestly, you just have to get through the first semester. Everyone has their roommate problems and things like that, and there's ways to get it fixed. But my biggest advice would be to stick out the semester and then make a decision on if QU is really the school for you. Overall, I think most people are annoyed with Quinnipiac administration. I've personally never had a problem with them. My senior year I took a class with President Lahey, and I have to say that contrary to what most people think of him, he's a pretty funny guy. Granted, he's not as much in the public eye at the school as most people would like him to be, but if they gave him a chance, he's not bad. When it comes to school spirit, everyone has love for the men's hockey team. Trying to get tickets to the big games during the school year is crazy and shows just how much people love the team and support them. They've been doing well in recent years, and with the new arena, they're only going to become more popular.

Ali

The School is great academically and I think it is the perfect size. Unfortunately there is alot to do in New Haven- which is a shuttle ride away, but not alot to do on campus during the weekend. Hockey games are where school spirit shines.

Tara

School size is just right. Best thing is the central quad where everyone walks through. Alot of people I talk to don't really know about Quinnipiac. Without Quinnipiac, Hamden would definitely be lower in their revenue - alot of the places around here rely on Quinnipiac students for their incomes, especially local bars. School pride is not a huge thing here; only during men's hockey games do you see students rooting for their school.

jess

Quinnipiac is probably most known for its gorgeous campus. It is a very nice place to live. Most of the people I have met here have been really nice and very friendly. And for the most part, the faculty, staff, and parts of the administration have always been very nice and easy to work with. The one problem with the school is that there are too many students than housing. The university really needs to fix that problem because of the lottery problems that have been experienced every year. The most recent controversy on campus is the one between administration and the journalism department/The Chronicle. For a school that has a huge communications program, gives out a free speech award every year, and prides itself on its journalism - it is not a big supporter of the newspaper nor is it a big supporter of free speech.

Marissa

Fun school, good academics, decent people

Zachary

The best thing about Quinnipiac is the nature theme the college campus has and how the classes are organized into the specific locations of the campus where students are able to reach to use.

Ashley

Hands down, the best part of QU is the gorgeous campus. It's a great size and there are things to do on campus and off. It's your typical college experience. Some people have school pride, but there's not much. The worst thing is that it's filled with people who are the same, but usually they're nice.

Matthew

The best thing about Quinnipiac is finding the 0.0001 {4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the population does not behave in this way, wear these clothes, share these values mentioned in the stereotype. They are hard to find but the fact that they stay here to weather the overwhelming tide of bullshit culture that surrounds them is really fantastic. The faculty as well is outstanding and really makes you wonder how a population with these incredibly conformist values tends to exist with some truly unique and diverse perspectives teaching the courses here. I stay here for those people and for the excellence of the Communications and English programs here. I've also obtained fantastic internships from the QU internships database that give me a lot of faith I can find a job in a competitive industry as the music industry.
