Just enjoy it. At times it WILL become very challenging and may make you think that the world is falling down on you, but you have to stay strong and KNOW you will pull through it. If you stress over a bad test grade, just understand that it is just ONE test and you will have more chances to raise your grade, but only if you TRY and take it SERIOUSLY. College is only as fun and rewarding as you make it, so make it so!

Don't just go on "feelings" alone. Truly research the issues: How much money are you going to need to pay for college, how much will they give you, and how well will they work with you on it. How many people going into the same field as you end up with good jobs after graduation...etc.

Visit a college for at least a weekend to check out the surrounding areas and get a chance to interact with the people. Location is very important when choosing a school.

The curriculum, sports, diversity & many other aspects of a university can help a student determine if a particular college is right for him or her. However, I strongly believe in campus visits. Taking a tour of the campus can be the deciding factor on whether or not a prospective student chooses a school. To make the most of the college experience, go to socials, plays, football/basketball games; Try out for sports; Rush a sorority/fraternity; stay on campus...whatever you do, just make sure you get involved!

to Students: Make sure when you are deciding what school you want to go to that you are sure. You dont want to go somewhere were you really dont want to be.

My advice to students looking for the right university is to visit the campus when classes are in session. It is crucial to observe how the students interact with each other, the expressions on their faces, and the culture you feel while you are there. If you have the opportunity to stay over night I highly reccommend that aswell. The more time you spend there and the more people that you meet will give you a much better feeling whether or not the shcool is a right fit for you. If you already have a slight idea of what you are wanting to study, investigate in the global community to see how respected a degree is from the school you are considering really is. Your college career is important so you want to make sure that you get the most return on your investment. Lastly, college is a time when you begin to shape who you really are so while you're looking at the campus grounds, the professors, and the students don't just say "I think I could fit in", visualize yourself having an amazing college experience that will prepare you for a wonderful carareer full of opportunities.

Advice I would give to parents and/or students about finding the right college is to first, go online to the college's website to learn as much information as possible. Second, take a visit to the college where you can take a tour, go to an information session, and talk to an admission counselor. The student should consider if the major he/she wants to persue is dominate or highly emphasised at the college. Also the student should love the environment on campus and off. The student will want to be involved in organizations and activies on campus if he/she attends a college where they enjoy the academic buildings, the student union, and resident's halls to study or hang out with friends. College is about an education, yet the student should also consider the active environment outside of the campus so that he/she will want to be live in the town and explore new places to eat, shop, or hang out with friends and family. In all, the student should find a location where he/she will want to be become a young adult and the parents should fully be supportive.

I think the most important factor when deciding on which college to attend is wether or not you see yourself there for four years. The sense of belonging is very important to college students because we are away from home and we need that sense of security!

Go when school is in session to see what the people are like. And be open minded to your kids trying new things and meeting new people and going new places. Let go of the leash a little bit.

You have to take every factor into consideration. The college's proximity to home, the pros and cons of its location. Also, its important to make sure that it offers a major that is appealing to the student. Greek life is very active and strong in some schools while its not in others. Look into the schools social life and see if its a good fit for you!
