We have a river on campus that provides opportunity for education and recreation.

Are school might be known as a party school but we also study as much as we partyeven though I don't party.

Texas State University is located in San Marcos, Texas where the town in centered around the college. There are lots of opportunities to get involved with the school. For example, the rock wall gave me a place where I felt that I fit in since rock climbing has been a big part of my life for several years. One thing that is uniqe to Texas State is the San Marcos River. It provides a place for recreation and community. I would go there every once and a while and study as well as on the weekends to float the river.

We have a river that flows through our campus, were close to Austin. We have plenty of programs that are recognized nationally and state wide. Very diverse culturally and ethnically. Laid back feeling not so high stress. Within walking distance of dowtown for social life and necessities. Trams are big help with transportation.
Craig
Beautiful campus - not too large but not too small.
Marie
The campus is full of diverse passionate students, faculty and staff and there are over 300 organizations for student involvement!

Texas State is has a unique campus full of extra-curricular activities, a great library, awesome social atmosphere on and off campus, and although it's a big school you still get the feel of small classrooms. At Texas State you have so many diverse classes to choose from in each field of study. In small classes you have the opportunity to have more one-on-one time with the professor if you have questions or concerns. In large classes you have the opportunity to meet and work with diverse students.

The unique thing about our campus in comparison to other campuses in south central Texas is that we have a river that runs through our campus. Our river is an important part of our campus and community. The San Marcos river is the second-largest spring in Texas and these springs feed the San Marcos River; home to eight endangered species, including the Texas blind salamander. The Texas State Aquarena Center, River Systems Institute and Edwards Aquifer Research and Data Center on our campus are some of the best places in the world to study aquatic ecosystems and species.

Texas State University has a very beautiful campus. It's very green, clean, and the river supports all kinds of life and provides a fun place to spend time outdoors and swim. Texas State students are very friendly and there are many resources for students on campus. Every professor I've had so far has been very helpful and most classes either have teachers assistants or supplemental instructors to help struggling students. With surrounding San Antonio and Austin there's alwats something to do or a place to go even if it's not San Marcos!

Our school is located in a town called San Marcos that although seems huge has a very hometown feel. There is a very outdoorsy feel to the campus. If you are an outdoors person and love playing sports, tubing, football, camping then this is the shool for you. Not only does Texas State University offer a great education but the surroundings are fabulous.

We have the city vibes but small town feel. It's like Austin, TX with the atmosphere of Denton, TX, but with beautiful scenery. Out of my friends, everyone is artistic and motivated young adults that are intelligent and know how to take it easy still.
Megan
It is beautiful and has its own river.
Ashley
I feel like it's a lot more laid back, and less prissy than some of the bigger schools. San Marcos is by far the most entertaining town out of all of the schools I considered. Everyone is so nice to each other, the hills are beautiful, the professors know your name... it's awesome.
Jessica
What is unique about Texas State is the it is built on hills so you get a good work out just walking to class. Another thing that is unique about Texas State as it use to be called Southwest Texas. So I feel that we are changing the school out of the party school image into a school that people really want to go to.What is also unique is the school spirt! We don't have the best football team. But we love going to tailgate and supporting Texas State teams.
Stephanie
My campus is beautiful! It has rolling hills and a spring fed river running through campus that people float in inner tubes and kayak on. We have Aquarena Springs here that feeds the river. Both of these places along with surrounding spring fed rivers provide lots of opportunities for freshwater scuba diving.

The atmosphere. I spent every spring break from 8-12th grade visiting schools, and Texas State University-San Marcos was the only school that I didn't hear anything negative about. The theatre department was even featured in the New York Times as being the up-and-coming school for stars on Broadway. The student population is the most diverse of any experience I've had, and the campus itself is beautiful. It's also a fairly small school, so there is a nice network.

Texas State is different in that it is very small. It's in a small little area, and you can go anwhere because of that reason. Its conveniently next to restaurants and little stores for students to go to. The campus is also very nice, and I very much like the fact that it looks old.
Jessica
Texas State University chooses a theme for each year, and because of this it is unique. This year the theme is "sustainability". The university and students have pulled together to all-around reduce waste, consumption and energy use. Texas State University is one of the few universities that I have researched that attempts to make an impact on the world, not only with certain organizationsl, but with the entire school.
