Texas State University has a very beautiful campus. It's very green, clean, and the river supports all kinds of life and provides a fun place to spend time outdoors and swim. Texas State students are very friendly and there are many resources for students on campus. Every professor I've had so far has been very helpful and most classes either have teachers assistants or supplemental instructors to help struggling students. With surrounding San Antonio and Austin there's alwats something to do or a place to go even if it's not San Marcos!

Our school is located in a town called San Marcos that although seems huge has a very hometown feel. There is a very outdoorsy feel to the campus. If you are an outdoors person and love playing sports, tubing, football, camping then this is the shool for you. Not only does Texas State University offer a great education but the surroundings are fabulous.

We have the city vibes but small town feel. It's like Austin, TX with the atmosphere of Denton, TX, but with beautiful scenery. Out of my friends, everyone is artistic and motivated young adults that are intelligent and know how to take it easy still.

Megan

It is beautiful and has its own river.

Ashley

I feel like it's a lot more laid back, and less prissy than some of the bigger schools. San Marcos is by far the most entertaining town out of all of the schools I considered. Everyone is so nice to each other, the hills are beautiful, the professors know your name... it's awesome.

What is unique about Texas State is the it is built on hills so you get a good work out just walking to class. Another thing that is unique about Texas State as it use to be called Southwest Texas. So I feel that we are changing the school out of the party school image into a school that people really want to go to.What is also unique is the school spirt! We don't have the best football team. But we love going to tailgate and supporting Texas State teams.

My campus is beautiful! It has rolling hills and a spring fed river running through campus that people float in inner tubes and kayak on. We have Aquarena Springs here that feeds the river. Both of these places along with surrounding spring fed rivers provide lots of opportunities for freshwater scuba diving.

Casey

The atmosphere. I spent every spring break from 8-12th grade visiting schools, and Texas State University-San Marcos was the only school that I didn't hear anything negative about. The theatre department was even featured in the New York Times as being the up-and-coming school for stars on Broadway. The student population is the most diverse of any experience I've had, and the campus itself is beautiful. It's also a fairly small school, so there is a nice network.

Texas State is different in that it is very small. It's in a small little area, and you can go anwhere because of that reason. Its conveniently next to restaurants and little stores for students to go to. The campus is also very nice, and I very much like the fact that it looks old.

Texas State University chooses a theme for each year, and because of this it is unique. This year the theme is "sustainability". The university and students have pulled together to all-around reduce waste, consumption and energy use. Texas State University is one of the few universities that I have researched that attempts to make an impact on the world, not only with certain organizationsl, but with the entire school.
