What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Quinn

The most popular student groups are pre-med organization and any volunteering organizaiton that will boost the application of pre-med or pre-health students. There are intermural sports like soccer here and football games are most likely sold out. People are friendly here and at the dorm I was at, Farrand, most people left their door open. Most athletic events, except for football, guest speakers ,and theater are not so popular, and most people who go are doing so for a class. There are quite a lot of Greek system here but less than half the school is affiliated with them. People who go to the Hill a lot tend to join the Greek system more, and some people will party from only for weekends or 4 times a week.

There is tons of stuff going on around here. Concerts at fox theater, outdoor hiking, climbing, pearl street, parties alllll the time. Everything you can think of, except swimming in the ocean

The HERD is a student body group that gives you a bunch of great discounts for campus activities and gives away CU apparel. They're a great group to get involved with 'cause you always know what different events are going on around campus.

There is some greek life at Boulder but i dont think its a big deal except to the people who are in it. People party a lot in boulder. House parties are pretty big because the bars are hard to get into if your not 21, and their cheaper. But the bar scene on Pearl street is pretty good too. An event that happens each year is 420 when everyone comes on campus and smokes, i guess thats a tradition. There is always stuff going on on campus or at different places in Boulder that dont involve alcohol so you dont have to drink to have fun if you dont want to .

Intramural Basketball is the best activity ever.

The social life is incredible. Our library, Norlin, was voted the number 1 people watching/ socializing library in the US. Dont get me wrong, there is studying going on there too, but who says you cant find a date for friday night while studying for your mid term exam? The night life is great - Pearl Street and the "hill" home some of the best, and diverse restaurants and bars around. As small as boulder is, it feels very swanky and metropolitan. Everyone is always dressed their best when they go out, and everyone knows how to celebrate after a big exam. During the day, there are so many outdoor activities. Rockclimbing, hiking, kayaking, biking, etc.... the scenery is breathtaking, and alll students want to do is breath it in.

The Annex is a campus ministry based out of First Presbyterian church in Boulder and meets every Tuesday night to give all students a place where they can truly worship God. "Real Life in Jesus Christ" is the goal of the Annex, and around 1000 students come every week from 8-10 to sing songs to God, listen to other students living out their life with Jesus, and to hear a talk by one of the directors. The Annex also has tons of chances to get involved in ministry and to get to know a few people very closely, and to make the mass of the group seem less massive. You can be part of a bible study with students your age, get involved in the awesome middle school and high school ministries run out of First Pres, go on mission trips to places like Jamaica, Thailand, New Orleans, or get involved in many other ways with students with similar interests. This ministry is a great chance to get to know God better, to meet other great people you otherwise wouldn't have, and to serve the community together. I highly recommend this for anyone and everyone, even if you don't like regular church services, because it's different when there are students all around who know what you are going through. This is a sweet opportunity that you won't get once you get out of college, so you need to take advantage of it while it's there for you. The men's ultimate frisbee team is nationally ranked and offers a high level of competition for all athletes in college. It's a great bunch of guys who work hard all year, in the fall when it's warm, and when its freezing and snowing and dark during the winter. We attend many tournaments in different places across the US, have two teams, A and B, and compete for the championship every year in May. Collegiate ultimate frisbee is very competitive now, and is getting even moreso as time goes, and CU has gone to the national championship tournament the most consecutive years of any team. Tryouts are open to everyone in the fall, and everyone is invited to come check it out and show what they got. I am lucky to be involved in this team and to be part of a group of guys who work so hard towards one thing together.

I am a member if the club ultimate frisbee team. It is a TON of fun and very competitive, and I get a great workout at least 5 times a week. I've met many friends through Ultimate, and do things outside of frisbee with them all the time. Cu's social life is great. Anything you want to do? Any kind of people you want to meet? Seek and you shall find.

Sports teams, club teams, and intramurals. CU Equestrian team! It is amazing. We take any level of rider and have an amazing time. We have weekly meetings and get to compete with other schools. Students in the dorms do not tend to leave their doors open. Athletic events are very popular, then guest speakers, then theater. People tend to date who they either meet in class or out at a party. I met my closest friends in the dorms and in my sorority. If I am awake at 2 am on a Tuesday I am studying. holidays. people party different amounts. I party once a week. I am in a sorority; therefore I think they are very important. I had a horse show last weekend and also had a roller-skating party with my sorority and another fraternity. You can do so much on the weekends that doesn’t involve drinking, you can see a movie, get dinner, or hangout on pearl street. I horseback ride off campus and also shop on pearl Street.

Stephanie
