Uconn is a very quite campus, away from many interfering and tempting big city activities. yes there is a lot of pride, sports is big too. Campus is beautiful.

Uconn is great for a big school. The campus is great and even though some may think it's too big to walk around all the time there are buses running most of the time that take you pretty much anywhere you need to get. Different organizations are always holding different activities to do throughout the week. It's easy to meet new people by joining a couple extracurriculars. There are places to get food into the wee hours of the night. The sports teams are well known and celebrated. The school has a really good reputation for academics and is the number one public university in New England. One of the bad things is the surrounding towns. There aren't a lot of towns around here that have much to do. Sometime you just want to get off campus and go do something, but to get to the next town takes 10-15 minutes by car. It would be nice to have the option of walking off campus to go do something.

I love UConn! Students here work hard and play hard. No matter what you're looking for, a person to study with, someone to order a pizza, or play a pick up game of soccer, they are easy to find. I do wish UConn had more of a college town feel, but they are working to build one in the next few years. Our new president, Mike Hogan, is really available to students; there is always an opportunity to get dinner with him or get to know him some other way.

My school is wayyyy to big right now. When I tell people I go to UConn, people automatically say "Wow, very large campus isn't it?" And yes, for the 128425th time, it is. Most of the time I spend is either in my room, or at the lounges in the students union, I can concentrate best in those places. The UConn admisnistration is a bunch of uptight men in uncomfortable conservative suites. I'm sure they do a lot of work, i could only assume the up-keep of a college is really intense, but they just dont seem like friendly people, (or individuals if i might add). Well the biggest controversy to me if the fact that UConn cuts so much slack on athletic players. Overall there is a lot of school pride, i must admit i have purchased a famous navy UConn hoodie or two in my years here.

The best thing about UCONN is that it is big enough that you can certainly find something to enjoy. However, it does not feel like a large school because everyone finds their own niche. While walking to class I always see friends amongst the 20,000 students. I feel that the size of Uconn is absolutely perfect. When I tell people I go to Uconn most say that it is becoming a very difficult school, and that is the truth. I am from Norwalk, CT and all the students from Norwalk are in my opinion very intelligent. I want to estimate that there are 30 students from my class, while the freshman class has maybe half that many people from Norwalk because it has got that much more competitive. On campus I spend a great deal of my time studying in the Homer Library and at the Student Union eating and for meetings. There are a couple places to go to off campus that I like such as Margaritas, Changs, Sara's Pockets, and Wooster. A "college town" will probably surround Uconn soon. Until then there are a couple of fun places and Manchester is just 20 minutes away. ( Manchester has a mall, Evergreen Shops, and many restaurants). The Uconn administration is pretty good. I have complained about the mail room and they immediately replied saying they would fix my complaint. Housing is difficult, as it is at most colleges. I find the school of business very efficient also. There is A TON of school pride for basketball. The football games are very fun. Soccer is increasingly becoming bigger, and I forsee baseball becoming very big as well. An unusual treat at Uconn is Dairybarn ice cream which is made at uconn and is delicious. One experience I will always remember is Huskython and Spring Weekend.

I think part of what makes UCONN such a great school is its large amounts of diversity, and all of the extra curricular activities it has to offer for students to get involved. I believe that in some ways UCONN is too large, but they do a very good job of making it seem like every individual is a great attribution to the school. I spend most of my time on campus (besides in classes) in my dorm room, or the dorm rooms of friends, and also at the Students Union. I think another really great thing about UCONN is that there is an extremely large sense of school pride amongst all of the students who attend the university. The main thing that I know I will always remember is becoming a member of Pi Beta Phi.

UConn is in the middle of no where. Despite this, the number of people on campus make up for this. It is a definatly a sports school. Everyone knows what is going on in college sports. Storrs is definatly not a college town. However, they are trying to build it up. It is annoying that you have to drive 20-30 minutes to get anywhere. Huskymania is apparent no matter where you go. Basketball tickets are nearly impossible to get but football tickets are easy to get and a lot of fun. There is always a bunch of kids that go to the games and tailgating is always a good time. It is really easy to get involved on campus. I usually only go home a few times a semester. Everyone pretty much stays on campus.

UConn is a very big school but it is a good size for me. it is a really fun and entertaining school with good athletics and a lot of school pride. it does not have a college town as it is pretty much placed in the middle of nowhere, but the campus is really big so it does not need so much of a surrounding town. The Uconn administration has been helpful in the example of advisors, but with dormitory administration they have not been helpful.

Best thing is the classes, not to easy, but not really tough either. I'd change the student body. Too many kids from CT go here, that don't deserve to be at a school that is almost impossible to get in from out of state. See, when you're out of state and you tell ppl you go to UConn there are amazed you got in. But if you're from CT and tell people you got in they say "don't drink too much". It's ridiculous.

Tori

The best thing about UConn is that there are a lot of opportunities of classes to take and clubs to join. If I could change one thing it would be the town surrounding UConn. For me, it's a little bit too large here. When I tell people I go to UConn, they think I'm from Connecticut or they think that I only go here because I didn't get in anywhere else. I spend most of my time in my dorm or in the theater buildings. There is hardly anything valuable in the town surrounding UConn. The administration is hard to navigate, you have to do a lot of research and ask a lot of questions before you can actually get the information you're looking for-- lots of red tape. There is definitely a lot of school pride here-- On any given day, at least every third person you walk by is wearing some UConn gear.
