The school consists of mostly Illinois residents, but as an Out of Stater I still feel pretty comfortable here. It's also a prestigous University to get into and the Unofficial party is wild - and very fun:). It is a very active campus, many people workout out around campus.

For the most part... yes. However you will also meet plenty of people from all over the world.

The way I look at it for the Greek system in general and as a whole, stereotypes exist for a reason sometimes. But with that being said, just because a few people act like this, does not mean we all do. In many cases these stereotypes are misleading and are nothing more than blow out of proportion cases.

Yes and no.
U of I is an internationally renowned school. It is actually quite hard to get into and isn't some in-state community college. I was amazed at the resources and professors that U of I had. And that does go for more than the engineering campus. However, that campus is pretty rich. They get a great deal of the university funds and a much nicer part of campus. However, the arts are incredibly prominent and appreciated at U of I. We have amazing libraries and resources for I think any major possible. I think even our smaller departments can hold a candle to most in the US.
And yes, it can be a party school, but I do believe that most big state schools are that way. Just by population alone, it's bound to be that way. And despite Champaign/Urbana being a relatively small community, there are plenty of parties and bars to go to, and though they try, you can pretty easily get a drink even if you are underage.

Somewhat. For the most part, U of I is an extremely diverse campus that has a variety of different majors so the fact that some people are English and anthropology majors is balanced by the agriculture and engineering majors. Also, there really aren't cornfields around. This is a college campus, filled with dorms, buildings, and bars. No cornfields really in sight.
Andy
Not at all. None of it is true.

Nope. The student demographic of UIUC is the most diverse of many campuses I visited while trying to choose a college to attend. Just because many students still wish the chief was the symbol of the fighting illini does not make them racist. Otherwise many organizations within Americana could be construed as racist such as the Cleveland Indians. Another sterotype that is wrong is that everyone on this campus partakes in partying. This is not the case. Although we have a great amount of nightlife establishments in Campustown and Downtown Champaign, about 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of my friends do not drink and party. It all depends on the life path you choose. If you hang with people who party then it will appear that everyone else is doing it. However, if you are in a hard major such as Architecture and Urban Planning, you will quickly learn that many people do not party on a consistent basis. This campus is very diverse.
