University of Louisville Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about University of Louisville? Why?

Cole

The worst thing about the University of Louisville is the dining options. Freshmen who live in tradition-style dormitories receive a large amount of meal swipes that can only be used at three places on campus. The main option, the Ville Grille, serves mediocre food and has little variety on a day-to-day basis. Meal swipes can also be used at Cardinal Burger Cafe at a certain time but the limited options quickly grow old. All other dining options use flex points which, on the traditional meal plan, have to be spent wisely because they are limited.

The scholarships and financial aid are severely lacking. Most of the scholarships are for lower socioeconomic students or students who are a minority. This makes it difficult for other students who also cannot afford college to find resources to pay. For instance, my mom makes just enough that I don't qualify for federal aid, but not enough to pay my tuition. However, because we're over the line, I don't qualify for many scholarships either.

While it is much cheaper than most other schools, the cost of attending University of Louisville is a lot, especially when students' tuition is funding the sports programs over acedmic programs.

I consider the lack of smoking areas at my school is the worst thing about it. As a non-smoker, I do not like to continuously walk through the cigarrete smoke of others. One reason due to a heart condition, and another due to the fact that smoking isn't permitted on campus, yet the rule is not enforced. Many other students feel the same way. Many students respect the choice of others who choose to smoke, but I believe that designated smoking areas would make everyone happy.

The worst thing about my school would probably be all the University of Kentucky students...just joking. I would have to say the adjustment of different learning styles according to the professor an individual has. My learning style is hands-on and when I get a professor that does more learn on your own style, I get confused and it is hard for me to adjust. Not every professor is going to teach the way I understand the best, but I wish there would be a description of the professor online when you go to choose your classes.

The worst thing about my school is that there are not a lot of healthy food options. This is probably due to the fact that most colleges have the "typical" college foods, manly being fast-food or cafeteria foods.

The worst thing about the University of Louisville is the false reputation that it has. Many other schools believe that the University lacks integrity in its academics, sports, student life and post graudate success. We have a nationally recognized selective graduate programs, a NCAA championship trophy & a Suger Bowl victory along with many other NCAA titles, nationally recognized top Greek chapters, venues where famous artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Timeflies have come to perform for our students, and a steadily increasing percent of graduates who find steady jobs after graduation. It's definitely happening here atthe University of Louisville.

The administartive side of it. Trying to talk to anyone about financial aid was impossible. They would send you to building after building and I just ended right back at the same place that I started. They did not treat me like a person in these offices.

The worst thing about my school would have to be the hours of our dining locations. They close at very random times and that does not allow students to access food late at night if they want it.

I have had problems with the financial aid department on numerous occasions. I wasn't awarded the financial aid I was supposed to at the beginning of the semester. It took a lot of extra time in order to have everything straightened out. It was hard to find the time to speak with them, because I am currently enrolled as a full-time student with 17 hours and I also have a job.
