UNL is loaded with non-traditional, rural community and foreign students providing an atmosphere that is centre-focused, that is on the self. If you find yourself to be the type that prefers to stand alone, this campus, in general, will only accentuate that trait. Everyone also has an opinion about everything and feels everyone else cares to hear. This, by far, is not the case. Discuss key issues and support your opinion, don't announce your insanity across Union Square.

i think that UNL is the perfect size of school for nebraska. Some kids come from a small town and adjusting to a larger one may be difficult. It's not too big but not too small. There are a wide variety of things that you can get involved with if you choose. I think that anyone would say that there needs to be more available parking. with the university growing somethings need to change in order to accomodate the changes. For me with the major i chose i don't have as much free time as I would like and i don't get to venture to many different parts of the campus as often as i would like but when i do i love it. i don't think i would have picked a different place to attend undergraduate school.

When people hear that I am from Vancouver, BC Canada many ask in a condesending tone....and why would you come here?? Why not? Yes there are things I miss about Vancouver and about home but I am really happy with my choice to attend school here and think it was a great opportunity for me to live some where different and learn new perspectives, and at the same time help share some of the experiences and culture that I have experienced from home and abroad that many people here have not yet.

I think that UNL is the perfect size. It's not too big and not too small. You can still get to know alot of people on campus and have many more yet to meet. I really like that it's not a small campus because when the campus is small, everyone knows everyone's business. I think Nebraska has alot of school pride. Our football fans are hardcore. People know us from our football tradition. It's partly a college town. Not as much as Lawrence, KS or anything but that's just because Lincoln is bigger and our students don't overtake the town.

The biggest issues I feel are associated with the expansion of the campus. They are always giving excuses as to raising student fees and tuition that have nothing to do with expanding the campus or replacing buildings, but something is always being built. Now with the state fair moving from Lincoln to Grand Island they can get their hands on the state fair grounds. How much is that going to cost. I do understand that inorder to provide an education that is on par with and exceeds other schools, they need to update continually and be flexiable. But really; it is excessive and the planning is not done very well. Take parking for instance. In order to increase enrollment, the University repairs, updates and builds new facilities; student enrollment goes up, and then the University over-sells parking leaving dorm living students without a place to park even though they paid for it. The cost of parking is also horrid, so I use public transportation.

For me, the best thing about UNL has been the academic advise I have recieved. From the advisors in General Studies, all the way to my current advisor in the College of Education & Human Sciences, I feel as though I have been well advised. It can be a very intimidating process to try and select a major, understand what it will take to complete your degree, and the most efficient path to that completion; but the advisors whom I have worked with over the last four years have always been great about answering my questions. I have never felt confused or mislead by any advice that I was given in regards to the completion of my degree and that has been very, very nice. Through my experience, it is usually the students who do not take advantage of the General Studies advisors who end up confused about what they need to do. Kudos to UNL's advisors.

I love how big the school is, but at the same time, I see familiar faces all the time. The classes are geared for your major so you have a lot of the same people in classes and it is easier to make friends that way. Campus is so much fun in the fall, the weather is great and students are always outside playing frisbee or sitting by the fountain at the union! I love it. The worst thing about UNL that I hear students complain about ALL the time, are the attendance policies. It is foolish to throw adults into the real world, have them live on their own and make their own decisions and then give them high school attendance policies. I don't generally skip class, but there are times I cannot make it and I hate being pentalized and have to worry constantly when I am sick. I go to class when I am sick because of the policies and that is how germs and viruses spread across the whole campus. We are adults now and college was a choice we all made, so we should have the choice of whether or not to attend.

The Best thing about UNL is the Culture. Culture goes hand in hand with school spirit and pride that all the students have for the University. When first coming here and knowing no one, I felt very comfortable when meeting new people that were Nebraska natives. I was welcomed with open arms and that it was has kept me here to this day. When talking about school spirit and pride it's just awesome to know that everyone is so passionate about anything and everything that goes on, from sports to academics to social life. I've never seen anything like it! Back home in Hawaii I never heard the phrase "I was born to be a Warrior." Here it's very much a common phrase when I have asked most Nebraskan's why they came to Nebraska. I definitely do not regret coming here for college.

The school is a perfect size. Its not too big and its not too small. The one thing I would change is trying to get a better and bigger rec center. Nebraska is very centrally located and easy to get anywhere. The traffic of the city is not bad but its a large city. Not like living in the middle of no where. You get the city life without the crazy traffic.

Katy

The size is really good...not too big or too small. The town of Lincoln is also a nice little town. I wish they had childcare.

Emily

UNL is just the right size. I love that I am able to meet new students every semester and also be able to develop close relationships with the faculty. I spend my time about equally on campus and our downtown area. Lincoln's downtown area is great because it offers movie theaters, restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors, smoothie shops, and great clothing vendors. I love football Saturdays. The excitement on college game day is like nothing else I have experiences. Fans are kind to the opposing team and there is a welcoming of outsiders to Lincoln. Most schools show disrespect to fans of the opposing team, but not here in Lincoln. We pride ourselves in having and showing great sportsmanship to the fans and teams we play.

Steve

Frequent students complaints are that school is too expensive. There is a lot of school pride. This is a big sports university.

Evan

The best thing about UNL is the people. It is just the right size. I spend a lot of my time at my sorority or at coffee shops surroudning campus. I don't think that its a college town. THe administration is... an administration, enough said. The biggest recent controversy on campus is the moving of the student section. The Athletic Department moved the student section to a horrible spot. There is a ton of school pride, both students and the entire state contriute to this.

Sara

The best thing about UNL is the atmosphere. It is right in the heart of lincoln and you are in walking distance to great restaurants and the movie theatre. In addition it is just the right size with a few large classes but also many smaller ones.

Emmerson

To be completely honest I'm not the biggest fan of UNL mainly because I am a full time student who is trying to make ends meet with a part time job. A lot of college students are in this same situation but I think our situations would be easier if UNL could become less of a "traditional school" as they proudly prounounce. The other thing is that UNL has an enormous amount of school pride. Sometimes a little too much but who can blame them when we're the school of the Huskers.

Sasha

The people more one on one help its kinda big for me i always get a good reaction union yes dont have one that game of tag with fake guns no it doesnt seem like students make friends with each other i went to a smaller school and the classes had about 20-25 a class and i remember all of my classes everyone knew each other and talked, here eveyone seems to keep to themselves the first day of my first semester....i was so lost PARKING SUCKS SO BAD! and its so damn expensive

Tia

I think the best thing about UNL is our team spirit. You come to campus and know that no matter where you come from, you can't help but catch the Husker pride. It also seems that although we are very proud in our teams at the University, we also show respect for opposing teams. Which I have not witnessed in other states. Sometimes it seems like the athletic program gets too much attention which is one thing I would change. Also, tuition seems to be increasing more and more each year and it is leaving some students unhappy.Although the campus is large, I still feel like it is a smaller campus because I always can find a familiar face in a crowd. When I tell people I go to UNL, they usually ask how I like it. I tell them I have gotten an education I am proud of. The classes are challenging and there is a wide variety of classes to take. I spend most of the time on campus in my apartment in Husker Village. By meeting so many people that live on my floor, we have become like a small community which makes for some fun times. Lincoln is a college town, there is no getting around it with 4 colleges here. Despite the college feel, it is also a community that feels like a small town.I think it is interesting that we have the largest dorm on campus (Abel). When I first visited the dorm it felt like it was a mile long, but I quickly took notice of the openness of it. People would be hanging out in one room, doing homework with each other in another. By having that sort of feeling it was like if you had any problems you could always find someone to relate to. Being apart of Scarlet and Cream has been one experience that I will always remember. Especially performing before game days at the Champion's Club.

The atmosphere at UNL is great. The thing that I like the most is the amount of support that is offered to me. There are tons of great resources on campus that can satisfy any of my needs and wants. Also, the Lincoln community is very supportive of UNL students, whether it be through offering discounts at local businesses or partnering with the colleges to offer internships or jobs. School pride here is very strong...people proudly wear Husker red! Parking is probably the biggest student complaint; it's kind of expensive and not always convenient, but they are working on getting more available spaces.

Chris

The best thing about UNL is Husker athletics and the coaching endorsement program. The transfer student program for education majors is so strict!!! I lost 19 credit hours because they have their own classses you HAVE to take. If you are looking to be a English major than GO TO CLASS!!! And if you go to class and do the homework you will get an A. If you are a retard like some of my friends and decent at math than major in Finance, easiest major in the world at UNL.

McKenzie

One experience I will remember from UNL is the opportunity I had to work with and meet so many great and talented people. This ranges from the cheer squad I was on to the residents on my floor.
