OU is great, I love it and couldnt see myself anywhere else. But this shouldnt make up your mind. Visit! You will know when a school is right for you, you will feel that you belong. If OU isn't for you, I hope find a campus that makes you feel like I did the first time I visited Norman. But the best advice I can give is to VISIT and don't be afraid to try new things. College is about exploring, do it before it's too late because it goes by fast.

One thing to warn about is going home on the weekends. Many freshman go home a lot on the weekends but that does die off after a while. Also, try to become friends with your room mate before you even think about becoming enemies. :)

There is not as much to do as a city like Dallas, but Norman town can be quaint with the right friends/life style. The whole experience depends on what you are looking for. There is not a lot of variety in Norman as far as restaurants or clubs, although adequate and the drive to OKC is only around twenty five minutes. OKC has Brick Town with several clubs/restaurants/boating tour and my fav is the Oklahoma City Museum of Art which features Art Exhibits/Independent Films along with a cafe for dinner. For a fairly quick weekend get a way "Dallas" takes around two (a lot of people drive it in 2 or 21/2 at most) to three hours. Moore is ten minutes away with a brand new movie theatre which serves dinner and drinks while watching the latest flicks. Anyone coming to the University of Oklahoma will experience friendly people and a decent atmosphere for serious studying unless the temptation for constant partying ensues. The Bizzell Library is a good place to frequent for research/studying. Hope this helps...

College is a place where you make things out of nothing. It is a place to have fun or a place to be serious. It is very good to mix it up but make sure that you don't forget about your priorities but that you get yourself out there and get to know some of your possible lifelong friends.

I would tell anyone who wanted to go to OU to really think about the Department as a whole and make sure everything is really as it seems on the surface.
I wouldn't recommend the Department for specific reasons.
The rest of the school seems to be an awesome experience but it is all subjective to each individual.

OU was a great experience for me. It opened my eyes to many things concerning the world today. It is active and very recognizable to most people. Today, when asked what college I graduated from.........I proudly (not to boastfully) say.....OU!

The only thing that sucks is that OU's campus went "dry" a couple years ago. But don't worry, it doesn't stop many kids from partying. :)

I grew up here and spent lots of time on campus. But I can honestly say that I still think it's a great place to hangout and go to school. Even when you don't have to be at school students are still on campus. That tells you something about the comfort and quality of the campus.
