Is the stereotype of students at Washington State University accurate?

Bridget

I feel that WSU's caliber of incoming students are lower than a lot of other Pac-10 universities, and i would like to see it become more prestigious. As far as the drunken hick stereotype I believe this comes from isolated area we are in. Lack of diversity is also very untrue. In fact I feel ethnicity should not be included in a college application. It's not fair, and should not matter.

Heather

not being very diverse

Jennifer

There are stereotypes for a reason, but they are definitely people who do not fit that mold. There is much more to Washington State.

Jennifer

I dont think so no.

Chris

No, it is inaccurate because WSU is a lot like other colleges drinking wise, the main difference is that other colleges are in cities, so the drinking is not so much a big deal. It seems like all we do is drink, but there are a lot of other ways students stay active and involved with the campus. Also, WSU are very intelligent, we work hard and a lot of students go very far.

Mel

to an extent yes, we do party, but so do other schools and that is not what we are all about. the university works hard to provide us the best possible education and means of succeeding.

NO!

no not at all

To some extent, but I think any college has a lot of drinking. I feel relatively safe in Pullman no matter the alcohol consumption. It has a community feel that I think contributes to the rowdy fan image we have. We have a lot of school spirit that people who don't go to school here don't understand.

Chelsea

In some cases. Yes, we do drink and party quite a bit. But name one college campus that doesn't. Not everyone applied to UW- I know a lot of people who didn't want to go there because of its size and location. I personally love going to school in a college town because everything revolves around our campus. We truly do bleed crimson and gray.
