Washington State University Top Questions

In my two years here at WSU, I have not heard of any frequent complaints about the school. Our school pride is unsurpassed across the country. On nationwide polls hosted by EA Sports, the CapitalOne Mascot Bowl, Pontiac, WSU has had enough spirit to finish in the top 3 of all of these, earning our basketball team and mascot the titles in these competitions. Pullman itself is the ultimate college town. The closest city that is larger is over an hour and a half away, so we are not quite isolated, but the school is the obvious focal point of the entire community. Cougar pride is seen everywhere in this state, particularly on the western side. Cougar license plates are one of the top-selling specialty plates in the entire nation.

The amount of student pride is awesome at WSU. I love it. It makes you feel like you are part of a big community because everyone bleeds crimson and is proud to display their feelings and emotions. Sometimes, they do so in a negative way. I think our school is a perfect size. I think we have nearly 24,000 students and its growing every year. They could make the stadium bigger though. WSU-pullman is definitely a college town. You hardly see any adults. No matter where you go you are surrounded by people your age which is awesome. Very easy to meet the opposite sex.

The size of the school is great, has a great reputation and die hard alumni network. Pretty much anywhere in the state your bound to get a high five or something if you are wearing coug gear. The town sucks however, small and in Eastern Washington, not exactly the cultural epicenter of anywhere.

I think the best thing about WSU is the school pride that everyone has for the teams here. I think that the school size is just right. When I tell people that I go to wsu, they all ask me how often I party and how much I drink. And no matter how many times I tell them i don't, they don't believe me because of the stereotypes. Pullman is a college town, I mean, it's basically made up of students and professors.

The best thing is that pretty much everything you could ever need you can find somewhere on campus, or nearby. One thing that I would change is the parking. There always seems to be issues with the color-coded parking lots. I agree that there should be parking passes, but not so many different color lots. It can be really confusing to figure out what lots you're allowed to park in. I think the size of the school is pretty good. Everything is pretty much within walking distance. When I tell people I go to Washington State, they usually say "Go Cougs!" or ask me how I like it. About half of the people in my hometown went here also, so I have a lot of support when I go home. I spend most of my time in my dorm room. Pullman is definately a college town. I've been here in the summer before and it seems dead when all the college students are gone I don't really have a strong opinion about the administration. I havn't really had any reason to interact with them. I think the biggest controversy on campus is all of the construction. It seems like it's never going to get done, and it kinda looks like a mess. I think their is a ton of school pride I don't really think theres really anything unusual Living in the dorms is an experience I will always remember. It was a BIG change to go from living in my own room and having my own bathroom at home to sharing a tiny room with another person and a bathroom with at least 30 other girls. I think the most frequent student complaints are about their classes and exams, but not a whole lot can be done about that.

I think that everybody that goes here is the best thing. We are all Cougs and we all love the Cougs equally making it a very friendly atmosphere. It is just the right size you don't have to worry about walking 20 minutes to class and the class sizes are nice. We are definatly a college town becuase that is all Pullman is, is Wazzu so everything is about Wazzu and it makes for a very friendly town as well. School pride is intense here, if you aren't a Coug you are the enemy and we will certainly let you know it.

I love WSU I was so unhappy my first semester since it was such a dramatic change from home and being able to drive to Bellevue Square for some retail therapy. After the first year though I grew to enjoy the Palouse mall and always being able to get a parking spot.

The best thing about WSU was some of the people that I met here. I would change the location to Schweitzer. I think the school is just right--you get to meet new people all the time but you also don't have a hard time running into the people you already know. People react like going to WSU is all fun and games. I spend a lot of my time in Wegner because that is where most of my classes are but I also wander around to other buildings (art building, library, architecture building, etc.) WSU is definitely a college town--there is not much else to do. I've liked most of the administration so far--no problems. The biggest controversy was probably the snow day--well maybe that's more of a celebration and something that gets to be put in the history books. There is a ton of school pride. I think the zen wall is pretty unusual--it's a place where you are allowed to graffiti. One experience I will always remember is crashing my car on the way to the snake river. I'm not really aware of any frequent student complaints.

The college town experience at WSU is like nothing else you experience. It honestly becomes a second home to you. It's a feeling that you can't really understand unless you experience it yourself. You become a Coug for life. I think Cougs may have the most collective pride and school spirit than any other school in the country, and I don't think I'm being biased.

There are a lot of dumb people here who come here to party instead of go to college. You will find that everywhere though. The best thing about us is that we are all family and will always love being a coug for the rest of our life. You will never find that at UW. The campus is pretty boring unless you enjoy drinking. The profs are pretty cool. I have seen a few at the bars and they are fun to hang out with and usually will buy you a drink and grade you easier. I have had many classes where they will postpone tests for big school games or even the superbowl.
