Tomorrow is April Fools’ Day, which kicks off National Humor Month. We have no idea why April is so comical, but hey…who are we to complain? We all could use a little more laughter in our lives. One thing that is no laughing matter, however, is the cost of a college degree. It can get downright expensive to pay for tuition,
books, housing, and all those college fees. That’s why it’s so important to take time each month to apply for
scholarships. Sometimes it may seem a bit boring when you have to answer those dry and dull essay prompts over and over again. But thankfully, not all scholarship programs are so bland. In fact, we’ve come across a few funny scholarships that will keep even the most overworked and sleep-deprived students engaged and laughing. Take a look.
1. Nudist Scholarships
Do you prefer your birthday suit to an actual suit? If so, check out the funny scholarships offered by the
American Association for Nude Recreation Southwestern Region (AANR-SW). Each year, this organization provides two
$1,000 scholarships to students between the ages of 17 and 25. Winners are chosen based on scholastic merit, involvement in school, community activities, and nude recreation.
Deadline to Apply: April 30.
2. Llama Scholarship
Remember Carl from the children’s television show called
Jimmy Neutron? Well, if you share his love of llamas, you could earn a cool
$1,000 scholarship for college. The
Michigan Llama Association actually awards two scholarships each year to its members to help cover the cost of an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Deadline to Apply: May 1.
3. Peanut Butter and Jam Slam
It’s peanut butter and jelly time! Those entertaining folks at
DoSomething.org have done it again by offering a
$7,500 scholarship just for collecting peanut butter and jam for local food banks. Any student who is 26 years of age or younger can participate, so get moving. You can score an entry for every can or jar you donate.
Deadline to Apply: May 15.
4. Starfleet Scholarship
Beam me up, Scotty! Unlike the Starship USS Enterprise, this scholarship actually exists. Students who have been members of Starfleet for a minimum of one year are eligible to compete for this
$1,000 annual award; previous experience with
tribbles is not required.
Deadline to Apply: June 15.
5. Make Me Laugh Scholarship
Tired of having to toot your own horn or brag about your accomplishments? Check out the
Make Me Laugh Scholarship from ScholarshipExperts.com. Simply share a funny or embarrassing experience (real or fake), and make the judges laugh out loud for a shot at a
$1,500 scholarship. Any legal U.S. resident who is 13 years or older can apply. If you win one of these funny scholarships, you could be laughing all the way to the bank.
Deadline to Apply: August 31.
