Welcome to summer vacation! Now you can officially put the alarm clock on extended snooze and stop that last minute cramming for tests. Congratulations on making it through another school year! Summer is definitely a great time to relax, but don’t let that keep you sleeping until noon every day and spending all your free time watching Gossip Girl episodes on Tivo. Now is the perfect time to start finding scholarships!
Before you grab your board and hit the beach this summer, be sure to look in to the Surfrider Foundation Scholarship Program. Each year, three merit-based awards are given to students who are members of the Surfrider Foundation.
Instead of cooling down with your friends eating an ice cream cone, are you the one behind the counter slinging soft-serve? If you are, you could be in luck! The National Ice Cream Retailers Association (NICRA) annually sponsors the Bryce Thomson Scholarship Award for full-time or part-time employees of Active NICRA members. The official deadline is August 31, 2011 so take the scoop away from your boss and have them nominate you today!
After you get burned from baking in the Big Sun this summer, the only thing cooler than aloe vera is The Big Sun Scholarship! Open to all student athletes in their senior year of high school and up. You’ll have to hurry though; the deadline for this award is June 23, 2011.
Whatever your plans are this summer, please remember that it is never too early to start planning for your future. Every student who plans on attending a college or university should search and apply for scholarships. Don’t be discouraged by a less-than-perfect GPA, there are scholarships out there for everyone!
